Position Overview
The company is seeking an Estimator to support preconstruction activities through the development of accurate project cost estimates, quantity analysis, and bid coordination. This role contributes to all phases of the estimating process, assisting with detailed pricing analysis, subcontractor coordination, and preparation of comprehensive estimate deliverables.
The Estimator will collaborate closely with senior estimators and project teams, supporting both early-stage conceptual pricing and detailed project estimating efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Cost Development
- Develop project estimates through data gathering, cost analysis, and pricing evaluation
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and material calculations
- Assist with preparation of full estimates for smaller projects
- Evaluate pricing scenarios and determine appropriate cost strategies
- Support data entry and organization within estimating software platforms
Bid & Proposal Coordination
- Solicit subcontractors and vendors for bid participation
- Obtain pricing proposals and schedule input for estimate comparison summaries
- Assist in preparation and coordination of Request for Proposal (RFP) documents and schedules
- Utilize schedule information to estimate general conditions and schedule-driven cost items
- Maintain addendum logs and manage updated documentation during bidding phases
Project Support & Analysis
- Compile and maintain historical cost data and estimating archives
- Participate in drawing reviews, estimate reviews, and project planning meetings
- Assist with gathering regulatory, permitting, and jurisdictional information affecting project pricing
- Conduct site visits and investigations as required
- Support onboarding and training of new estimators or team members
- Identify and engage new subcontractors for future project opportunities
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Estimating, Mechanical/Civil/Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum three (3) years of construction industry experience, including exposure to project operations and materials management
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple project tasks simultaneously
- Working knowledge of estimating methodologies and construction pricing practices
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Professional communication skills and collaborative mindset
- Valid driver’s license required
Technical Skills
Experience with industry estimating tools such as:
- ISqFt
- ICE / Bid2Win
- On-Screen Takeoff (OST)
- Bluebeam or similar PDF software
- Google Earth or comparable tools
