Senior Field Quality Manager
Location: US-UT – Delta
Overview
The company is seeking a Senior Field Quality Manager to lead project quality teams through the planning, execution, and close-out phases of large-scale infrastructure and construction projects. This role partners closely with project leadership and quality management to develop and implement all required quality activities. The Senior Field Quality Manager ensures that field quality teams consistently execute project-specific quality requirements through active monitoring and oversight.
This position also supports the ongoing maintenance of the company’s Quality Management System, contributes to the development and implementation of best practices and lessons learned, and participates in internal and external audits as required by contract or certification standards. The role provides leadership input aligned with the company’s mission, values, and performance objectives.
Responsibilities
Quality Program & Compliance
- Contribute lessons learned and best practices to support the annual maintenance and continuous improvement of the company’s Quality Management System in alignment with international standards (e.g., ISO 9001) and client specifications.
- Manage and maintain comprehensive quality-related project documentation, including reports, records, logs, and audit materials.
- Confirm that quality requirements for design-build and EPC projects are properly defined, implemented, and effective, including applicable standards, guidelines, and inspection checklists.
- Develop and manage project audit plans, including schedules, documentation requirements, and staffing/resource needs.
- Collaborate with internal operating units and subcontractor quality personnel to ensure quality plan deliverables are achieved as planned.
Monitoring & Oversight
- Ensure all quality management activities comply with applicable legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting of quality performance metrics to senior leadership.
- Review and approve quality plans, procedures, inspection reports, and related documentation.
- Perform or coordinate systematic and independent audits and surveillance activities to evaluate procedural execution, compliance, and effectiveness of the Project Quality Management Plan.
- Identify, document, and track quality issues that may impact project outcomes; develop and support corrective and preventive action plans.
Document & Non-Conformance Control
- Verify that all jobsite documents are current, properly maintained, and stored in accordance with project procedures, including design drawings, vendor and subcontractor submittals, test records, and certifications.
- Ensure non-conformances are properly identified, documented, tracked, and resolved in coordination with the Project Manager and Site Construction Manager.
Team Collaboration
- Report quality performance and trends to project leadership.
- Implement procedural improvements and best practices based on audit findings and lessons learned.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through quality data analysis, root cause evaluations, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain regular interaction with field construction teams, corporate operations support, project controls, and client stakeholders.
Leadership & Guidance
- Serve as a change agent to enhance quality performance and project outcomes.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to quality staff and project team members.
- Lead quality-focused discussions during project kick-off and milestone meetings.
- Deliver Quality Management Plan (QMP) training and awareness sessions for project personnel.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and adhere to all internal standards, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications
Required Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience; or Associate’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 7 years of experience; or a minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in design quality management, surveillance, and corporate/operations/project quality management.
- Demonstrated success developing and implementing quality programs and procedures.
- Advanced proficiency with Procore or similar construction management platforms to execute and manage Quality Management Programs.
- Proven experience supervising and leading quality staff at a management level.
- Experience working across multiple states with a strong understanding of state and local codes and regulatory requirements.
- Strong background in safety standards and environmental compliance.
- Leadership experience in inspection and surveillance oversight programs.
- Expertise in quality assurance processes for construction projects involving engineering, material management, and field construction activities.
- Technical expertise in managing inspection and testing programs.
- Strong analytical ability to evaluate objectives and KPIs and implement effective solutions.
- Advanced understanding of critical path scheduling.
- OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour certifications.
Preferred Experience & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- CMQ/OE – Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence.
- Certifications in civil and electrical inspection, testing, welding inspection, structural bolting, commissioning, and related disciplines.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting EPC, Design-Build, or CMAR project environments.
- 10+ years of experience in engineering design quality management, equipment or materials surveillance, manufacturing facility inspections, or construction quality management within the power delivery or utility infrastructure sector.
