Project Manager – Industrial Hygiene & Safety

Location: San Diego, California- Hybrid/Remote


A growing environmental health & safety consulting organization is seeking an experienced Consultant / Project Manager to support Industrial Hygiene & Safety (IH&S) initiatives throughout the Southern California region. This individual will play a key role supporting client projects across multiple industries including commercial construction, higher education, healthcare, biotechnology, manufacturing, and property management environments.


This role offers a combination of technical project execution, client relationship management, and business development responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing environmental health & safety projects while supporting client-facing consulting efforts.


The selected professional may function as the lead project manager on assigned work or support larger project teams in both consulting and onsite staff augmentation capacities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support a variety of Industrial Hygiene & Safety projects
  • Interface directly with existing clients and prospective customers regarding project needs and solutions
  • Assist with proposal preparation and scope development
  • Conduct moisture intrusion and microbial investigations
  • Perform safety inspections, assessments, and field evaluations
  • Develop and deliver EHS-related training programs
  • Prepare technical reports, compliance documentation, and written safety programs
  • Provide onsite EHS consulting support at client facilities
  • Coordinate schedules, resources, and deliverables across multiple active projects

Desired Qualifications

  • 5–10+ years of Environmental Health & Safety experience with emphasis in Industrial Hygiene and/or Safety
  • Demonstrated project management experience within consulting, industrial, or construction-related environments
  • Experience conducting EHS assessments, investigations, inspections, or compliance evaluations
  • Familiarity with industrial hygiene sampling methods including air sampling, surface sampling, and microbial investigations
  • Experience utilizing IH instrumentation such as:
  • Sound level meters
  • Noise dosimeters
  • Moisture meters
  • Infrared cameras
  • Air sampling pumps
  • Anemometers
  • Strong technical writing and reporting capabilities
  • Prior experience supporting industries such as:
  • Construction
  • Higher Education
  • Healthcare / Life Sciences
  • Commercial Property Management
  • Manufacturing / Industrial

Required Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to support multiple technical service lines simultaneously
  • Strong organizational and client management skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as within collaborative project teams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects concurrently in fast-paced environments

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in:
  • Industrial Hygiene
  • Occupational Health & Safety
  • Public Health
  • Environmental Science
  • Or related scientific discipline

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends as project needs require
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
  • Willingness to travel throughout Southern California
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required
  • Ability to successfully pass background screenings for client site access

Preferred Certifications

  • CIH certification or active progression toward CIH preferred
  • Additional EHS-related certifications are a plus


Compensation: $95,000 – $120,000 annually
