Position Summary
The Vice President of Marketing will serve as the company’s senior marketing leader, responsible for both strategic direction and day-to-day execution. This role is ideal for a builder—someone who thrives in a growing organization, enjoys rolling up their sleeves, and has a track record of creating marketing systems, processes, and teams from the ground up.
The VP of Marketing will work closely with the owners and leadership team to transition the company from founder-driven marketing to a repeatable, scalable growth engine, while supporting sales, operations, and long-term business strategy.
This is not a “hands-off” executive role. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable developing strategy, executing campaigns, documenting processes, and mentoring a growing team.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
· Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with company growth goals
· Partner with ownership to shift focus from “working in the business” to “working on the business”
· Define clear marketing priorities, KPIs, and success metrics
· Support long-term market positioning, brand development, and service-line expansion
Hands-On Marketing Execution
· Personally lead and execute core marketing initiatives in the near term, including:
· Lead generation and demand creation
· Website optimization and content strategy
· Proposal support and sales enablement materials
· Digital marketing campaigns (email, paid, SEO, social, etc.)
· Evaluate and improve current marketing tools, vendors, and platforms
· Act as a doer while building the foundation for future delegation
Process, Structure & Systems
· Design and implement repeatable marketing processes, workflows, and documentation
· Introduce structure, organization, and accountability across marketing activities
· Create scalable systems that reduce inefficiency and reliance on ownership
· Establish clear communication and handoffs between marketing, sales, and operations
Team Development & Leadership
· Assess current internal capabilities and capacity gaps
· Build, mentor, and lead a small but growing marketing team (internal and external resources)
· Define roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations
· Gradually transition execution from self-led to team-led as capacity grows
Sales & Growth Enablement
· Align marketing closely with sales and business development efforts
· Improve lead quality, consistency, and conversion tracking
· Support pursuit strategies, proposals, and client-facing materials
· Strengthen the company’s presence in target markets and industries
Qualifications & Experience
· 10+ years of progressive marketing experience, preferably in: Construction, environmental services, engineering, professional services, or B2B services
· Prior experience in a high-growth organization
· Demonstrated success building marketing functions, not just managing mature ones
· Strong understanding of B2B services marketing and sales enablement
· Experience balancing strategy with hands-on execution
· Proven ability to create order, process, and structure in fast-moving environments
