Project Executive -HVAC / Plumbing / Process
Role Summary
Reporting to the Sales Manager, this position leads regional business growth and client development efforts while maintaining oversight of key project portfolios. The Project Executive is responsible for identifying and developing new revenue opportunities, expanding strategic client relationships, and building a strong, actionable sales pipeline in partnership with a select group of Project Managers.
Success in this role is measured by the ability to convert prospects into long-term, revenue-producing clients through a consultative, value-driven approach. In addition, this position plays a key role in strengthening the performance, capabilities, and career progression of Project Managers and Project Engineers through coaching, mentorship, and strategic oversight.
Core Responsibilities
Project Oversight
- Maintain active involvement in project delivery for assigned client accounts.
- Lead the pursuit, contract development, and technical coordination of projects from initial opportunity through final completion.
- Provide high-level conceptual budgets and technical guidance for prospective clients not yet assigned to a formal project management team.
Sales & Pipeline Leadership
- Develop and execute regional pursuit and bidding strategies, including risk review and internal bid evaluation processes.
- Align project opportunities with the appropriate Project Managers and Project Engineers to maximize team performance and client satisfaction.
- Oversee the full lifecycle of project acquisition, including client engagement, contract negotiation, preconstruction coordination, scheduling alignment, and successful project handoff and completion.
- Maintain accurate and current records of prospects, key accounts, and new client opportunities.
Market Expansion & Revenue Growth
- Drive regional revenue and margin growth by expanding bundled project opportunities across mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and process piping.
- Design and implement business development plans that support growth in targeted market sectors aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.
- Identify, assess, and qualify new business opportunities through market research, relationship development, and performance analysis.
- Track industry trends, competitive activity, and emerging market conditions to inform strategic decisions.
Client & Industry Relationships
- Identify, qualify, and engage prospective and existing clients through a consultative, relationship-based sales approach.
- Build trusted advisor relationships with senior decision-makers by understanding organizational goals, capital plans, and long-term business strategies.
- Host facility tours and client engagement events to demonstrate operational capabilities and reinforce the company’s value proposition.
- Maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with internal department leaders, peers, and project teams to support a cohesive company culture.
- Establish credibility and trust with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and industry partners to enhance overall project and business success.
Talent Development & Leadership Support
- Guide and evaluate team performance within established operational and risk management frameworks.
- Provide mentorship and career development support for Project Managers and Project Engineers.
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and long-term retention of project leadership staff.
- Identify opportunities to improve team efficiency, technical capability, and project delivery practices using standardized management platforms and performance tools.
- Partner with senior leadership and human resources to foster a positive, professional, and inclusive work environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Sales Management, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in estimating, design coordination, and management of large-scale HVAC or mechanical construction projects ranging from approximately $5 million to $25+ million in value.
- At least 10 years of experience leading, developing, and managing professional project or operations teams.
- Proven ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment regarding collaboration and escalation to executive leadership.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical leadership, organizational values, and high professional standards.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to engage senior-level stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Advanced influencing, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation capabilities.
- Proficiency with business, accounting, and project management systems.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- Familiarity with enterprise and construction software platforms such as JDE, IFS, BidTracer, FastEst, Bluebeam, Box, Smartsheet, or similar tools.

Travel
Travel is required as business needs dictate between the primary office, regional locations, and active job sites.
Compensation
Annual Salary Range: $164,562.08 – $274,270.13
Compensation is determined based on qualifications, experience, education, certifications, and geographic location. Total rewards may include additional benefits beyond base salary.
