EI&C Design Manager

Full-Time | Engineering & Design Leadership Role


We are seeking an experienced EI&C Design Manager to lead a multidisciplinary drafting and design team supporting complex industrial and energy infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for overseeing electrical, instrumentation, and controls (EI&C) design deliverables from conceptual development through detailed engineering while ensuring quality, schedule, and budget expectations are met.


The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with extensive experience managing design teams, coordinating project deliverables, and developing innovative electrical design solutions in fast-paced engineering environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the daily activities of drafting and design personnel to ensure project schedules and milestones are achieved.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineers to develop estimates for complete design packages and allocate resources effectively.
  • Prioritize and manage drafting workloads across multiple projects and stakeholders.
  • Develop and review complex electrical layouts, cable tray systems, 3D models, and other design deliverables from conceptual design through detailed engineering.
  • Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety requirements, and client specifications.
  • Produce and review electrical design packages using CAD software and provide technical guidance to junior designers.
  • Maintain project controls, documentation, and records in accordance with company and client requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve design quality, simplify processes, and reduce rework.
  • Review and approve design deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project standards.
  • Evaluate and implement design technologies and CAD-based efficiency tools to improve productivity.
  • Mentor and develop less-experienced designers while fostering a collaborative team environment.


Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Drafting, Design Technology, or a related field required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of electrical design experience, preferably within industrial, energy, or oil and gas environments.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience managing drafting or design teams.
  • Strong proficiency with industry-standard software, including:
  • AutoCAD
  • Revit
  • MicroStation
  • AutoCAD Electrical
  • Other relevant CAD platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work within established budgets and schedules.
  • Experience working independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.


Preferred Experience

  • Background supporting oil and gas, utility, industrial, or energy infrastructure projects.
  • Experience developing 3D models, electrical layouts, and cable tray designs.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and safety requirements related to electrical and instrumentation design.
