Live-Out Housekeeper Job Description – Tenafly, NJ 

Position: Live-Out Housekeeper 

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9– or 8–4, Family is Flexible

Compensation: Hourly is DOE

Location: Tenafly, NJ 

Overview 

A young family with three little children and two dogs is seeking a professional, reliable, and detail-oriented Housekeeper to manage the cleanliness and overall upkeep of their home. The household is fully staffed with two full-time nannies who are responsible for all childcare and organization of the children’s spaces. 

General Responsibilities 

• Full-charge house cleaning including tidying up, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, washing dishes, loading and unloading dishwashers, wiping down all surfaces, door handles, windows and baseboards, and deep cleaning of bathrooms and kitchen 
• Making beds daily and changing bed linens and towels weekly 
• Laundry and ironing, including care for fine and delicate fabrics 
• Taking out the trash and recycling, including breaking down all boxes 
• Maintaining organization of pantry, closets, cabinets, and storage areas 
• Light errands or household tasks as needed (e.g., receiving deliveries) 
• Occasional assistance with pet-related tidiness (e.g., vacuuming pet hair, wiping floors) 
• Familiarity with kosher kitchen practices is a plus, but not required 

Candidate Qualities 

• Energetic, organized, and highly detail-focused 
• Able to work efficiently and independently with minimal supervision 
• Comfortable in a household with small children and dogs 
• Team-oriented and respectful of household routines and existing staff 

Requirements 

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in private homes 
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required  
• Excellent references and stable work history 
• Non-smoker 
• Strong English fluency
