Position:            Live-in Groundskeeper

Schedule:          Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm with occasional overtime/weekend work

Salary:                $85,000 – 90,000

Overview

A private family is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Live-in Groundskeeper to maintain the exterior of the property and surrounding grounds at their 35-acre estate in Washington, CT. Current schedule is five days a week, Monday through Friday, 8am – 5pm with flexibility based on seasonal needs. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:

Landscape, Buildings & Grounds Maintenance

·      Full-service care of exterior grounds, lawns, gardens, and outdoor structures including seasonal maintenance of structures and grounds, and snow removal.

·      Daily check and basic troubleshooting of irrigation systems, wells, and pumps, house mechanical systems and outdoor drainage.

·      Hands-on upkeep of all exterior buildings, outbuildings, garages, barn/sheds, and equipment rooms.

·      Handyman work, including for example painting, touch-ups, minor repairs; basic carpentry and familiarity with tools (power tools, chainsaws, power washers, ladders, etc.).

·      Perform safety checks and report hazards promptly.

Support for Estate Operations

·      Sourcing and managing inventory of supplies (including replacement shrubs, trees and plants) for landscaping and building maintenance.

·      Assist with setup for social events (tents, tables, chairs) and support household staff as needed.

Qualifications:

·      7+ years of previous experience working for a family is strongly preferred

·      Strong working knowledge of landscaping, horticulture, exterior maintenance, and small and large landscaping machinery, including tractors, excavators, de-thatchers, professional lawnmowers and similar.

·      Basic carpentry, painting, mechanical, or electrical skills highly valued.

·      Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others

·      Highly proactive and able to spot and resolve issues before they become apparent to the family

·      Must have own transportation
