Take the next step in your culinary career as a Pasty Sous Chef, partnering closely with the Executive Chef to deliver exceptional food, lead kitchen operations, and support a high-performing culinary team. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about food quality, team development, and operational excellence.


As Pasty Sous Chef, you will play a key role in daily kitchen management, ensuring consistent execution, food safety compliance, and outstanding guest experiences. You will oversee service periods, mentor kitchen staff, and step into a leadership capacity whenever the Executive Chef is unavailable.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and execute menu items to established recipes and presentation standards
  • Assist in leading, coaching, and developing culinary team members
  • Support scheduling, inventory control, and kitchen organization
  • Ensure all food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures meet regulatory standards
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment
  • Address operational challenges and guest concerns with professionalism
  • Contribute to banquet, catering, and special event execution


Requirements

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada (currently recruiting for roles based in BC & Alberta)
  • 2 - 4 years of culinary experience, including some leadership or supervisory responsibilities
  • FoodSafe Level 1 certification
  • Formal culinary training or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Experience in a restaurant, hotel, resort, catering, or banquet environment
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen best practices
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Ability to lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs) and stand for extended periods


Assets

  • Red Seal certification
  • Experience with inventory, ordering, and food costing
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office or kitchen management software
