About the Company
A well-established Western Canadian steel fabrication and erection firm is seeking a Technical Sales & Project Manager to join their growing team. This company has built a strong reputation for delivering complex structural and miscellaneous steel projects across the industrial, commercial, and infrastructure sectors.
The Opportunity
This is a unique hybrid role that combines business development with project execution. You’ll be responsible for identifying new industrial project opportunities, supporting bid and proposal efforts, and then leading project delivery once work is secured. The company provides strong support from experienced estimators, engineers, and operations staff, enabling you to focus on client engagement and execution.
The role can be based in Edmonton, Calgary, or Vancouver, and will involve some travel throughout Western Canada depending on project locations.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Client Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with industrial clients, general contractors, and consultants.
- Identify upcoming projects and business opportunities in sectors such as energy, mining, oil & gas, and infrastructure.
- Lead pre-construction activities including site visits, scope reviews, and proposal preparation.
- Work closely with internal estimating and executive teams to develop competitive bids and win work.
Project Management
- Take full ownership of awarded projects—managing timelines, deliverables, budgets, and client communication.
- Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring exceptional service and follow-through.
- Coordinate internal departments including drafting, fabrication, and field operations.
- Address project issues proactively, ensuring that quality, safety, and schedule commitments are met.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Engineering (Structural, Civil, Mechanical), Construction Management, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in technical sales, industrial project management, or steel construction roles.
- Deep understanding of structural/miscellaneous steel, fabrication, and industrial construction workflows.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-first mindset.
- PMP, EIT, or P.Eng designations are considered assets.
- Ability to travel occasionally across Western Canada.
