Overview
A leading medical technology organisation is seeking a driven Clinical Sales Specialist to expand the adoption of fluorescence‑guided surgery across Northern England. This field‑based role focuses on driving commercial growth, supporting clinicians, and increasing utilisation of a key pharmaceutical product used across Minimally Invasive Surgery, Breast Surgery and Ophthalmology.

Role Purpose
You will introduce, promote and grow demand for a specialist pharmaceutical product and associated technologies across your territory, working closely with clinical, marketing and commercial teams. Success requires strong clinical credibility, medical device experience, and the ability to influence stakeholders across NHS and private healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver annual sales and GP targets for the product portfolio.
- Build strategic relationships with surgeons, clinicians, procurement teams and hospital stakeholders.
- Create hospital‑level business plans to identify key decision‑makers and drive incremental sales.
- Spend significant time in theatre and clinical environments supporting product use and driving advocacy.
- Establish and maintain a network of KOLs across relevant specialties.
- Understand customer needs at clinical and non‑clinical levels to create tailored commercial solutions.
- Maintain deep knowledge of fluorescence‑guided surgery and associated clinical procedures.
- Monitor competitor activity and provide insight to inform strategy.
- Confidently interpret and disseminate clinical guidelines and published evidence.
- Uphold industry standards, including the ABHI Code of Conduct.
- Deliver training to clinicians and nurses to support product utilisation and clinical trials.
- Attend local and national conferences, events and training programmes.
- Maintain accurate CRM records (HubSpot).
- Support post‑market surveillance activities.
- Present clinical and commercial updates at internal meetings.
- Stay informed on NHS developments and adapt territory strategy accordingly.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Degree‑level education in life sciences or healthcare.
- Strong medical device or med‑tech sales experience (ABPI qualified).
- Proven track record of sales success in clinical environments.
- Solid understanding of surgical settings (Ophthalmology, MIS, Breast, Plastics).
- Ability to critically appraise clinical data and communicate evidence‑based value.
- Strong relationship‑building, influencing and communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Experience developing and managing KOLs.
- Knowledge of NHS procurement and tender processes.
- Experience supporting clinicians in theatre environments.

Working Conditions
- Significant time spent in hospitals providing technical and clinical support.
- Travel across the Northern territory, with occasional requirements outside region.
- Some evenings, early mornings, weekends or extended hours to support theatre schedules, events or meetings.
- Regular internal meetings (remote or face‑to‑face).
- Approximately 80% customer‑facing, 20% administrative.
Package
- £60,000–£63,000 base salary
- £550 monthly car allowance
- 30% bonus on base salary
- Industry accreditation support (MIA, ABPI if required)
