Planner (3‑Year Programme)

Location: London Docklands

Project Value: £230 million

Salary: Negotiable and competitive


An established construction contractor operating across Ireland, the UK and Northern Europe is seeking an experienced Planner to join a high‑performing project team delivering a major data centre development in the London Docklands. The organisation specialises in Critical Environments including Data Centres, Life Sciences, Aviation, High‑Value Manufacturing and Critical Logistics.


Reporting To

Senior Planner

Purpose of the Role

As a Planner, you will be responsible for coordinating and organising construction activities, developing detailed schedules, managing resources and monitoring project progression to ensure successful delivery.

Role Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules to support timely project delivery
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects and engineers to create plans aligned with client expectations and deadlines
  • Monitor project progress, identify delays or risks and implement corrective actions
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely availability of materials and resources
  • Conduct site visits to assess progress and update schedules accordingly
  • Provide regular progress reports to stakeholders, highlighting milestones, risks and opportunities
  • Review and analyse project plans, specifications and drawings to identify conflicts or risks

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a construction‑related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction planning, scheduling or a related role
  • Expertise in P6, Asta and Microsoft Project
  • Proven track record in Earned Value Methodology and scheduling for NEC contracts
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to anticipate issues
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organised, detail‑focused and capable of managing multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
