We’re looking for three (3) reliable and detail-oriented Field Jetty Operators to manage critical terminal systems, oversee tanker loading and discharging, and ensure strict adherence to safety and environmental protocols. Who We Are


IMTT-NTL Ltd., operator of Newfoundland Transshipment Terminal (NTL), is a state-of-the-art, 3-million-barrel crude oil storage / transshipment facility located in Whiffen Head, Newfoundland and Labrador, that seeks to deliver operational excellence and exceptional customer service by providing safe, environmentally responsible, reliable, and cost-effective crude oil transshipment services.


What You’ll Do


Reporting to the Operations Supervisor or Operations Manager, the Field-Jetty Operator (FJO) position is a critical role at the terminal. The position is responsible for operating the terminal systems, issuing and monitoring work permits, maintenance and contractor personnel and the loading/discharging of tankers. The FJO responds to safety or environmental incidents at the terminal.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Physical preparation, monitoring, recording of crude transfers and other automated Terminal Operations.
  • Supervision of tanker loading/discharging operations.
  • Storage tank gauging and sampling.
  • Participation in initial response to terminal incident.
  • Basic maintenance of terminal equipment.
  • Preparation of work permits and monitor terminal activities to ensure they are consistent with the company’s safety, environmental, security and operating procedures.


What You’ll Bring


  • Petroleum Technology Diploma or equivalent from a post-secondary school. A high school diploma with pertinent additional training will also be considered along with the completion of an In House Technology Course.
  • A minimum five (5) years experience as an operator in a hydrocarbon facility and/or marine terminal with distributed control systems including tank gauging, sampling and custody transfer operations.
  • Positive attitude with good inter-personal, communications and computer skills.
  • A good understanding of the functions and responsibilities of operations and maintenance departments and a willingness to work cooperatively with all facility personnel.
  • Previous training in hydrocarbon safety awareness including firefighting and oil spill response training an asset.


Additional Requirements


  • The position requires the incumbent to work unscheduled overtime throughout the year.
  • The incumbent must be physically fit to work in an industrial facility and to handle incident response duties.
  • The incumbent is required to abide by the company substance abuse policy. The position is deemed by the company as “safety sensitive’.
  • Valid Driver’s License
