Ethree Consulting is actively recruiting for the permanent, full-time position of Project Accountant on behalf of our client, MEOPAR.

Overview of the Role

We are looking for a junior to intermediate Project Accountant to assist the Financial Controller in managing the financial aspects of funded projects. This role will ensure compliance with grant and funding requirements while delivering accurate financial reporting in alignment with project budgets.


The Project Accountant will develop and monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and perform variance analyses to maintain financial integrity. They will work closely with program managers to align financial practices with project goals, prepare grant-specific reports, and support audits. This role is essential in ensuring the sustainability and impact of the organization’s research funding initiatives through effective communication between financial and program teams.


Your areas of responsibility will include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and monitoring budgets for funded projects, tracking expenditures, and preparing variance reports.
  • Ensuring compliance with grant terms, including allowable costs, reporting deadlines, and funding agreements.
  • Preparing accurate and timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, while providing insights and forecasts.
  • Reconciling project accounts and assisting with month-end and year-end financial closing processes.
  • Serving as the financial point of contact for project-related inquiries from funders, program managers, and external partners.

 

Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree or certification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in project accounting, nonprofit finance, or grant management.
  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards and practices, including fund accounting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Suite.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preference will be given to bilingual candidates.
