Manager, Business Liaison Office

Who We Are

Located in Labrador City, Labrador West Chamber of Commerce (LWCC) has been Labrador West’s business and regional economic development voice for more than 50 years. With its strong advocacy efforts and highly successful initiatives, the LWCC has been the voice of our business community. As a non-profit, non-partisan association, we take pride in having the opportunity to continuously play a lead role in representing our respective membership, boosting economic prosperity and quality of life in Labrador City and Wabush.

The new Business Liaison Office reflects LWCC’s commitment to supporting its members by serving as a central hub for connection, collaboration, and advocacy - promoting LWCC’s role as the link between businesses and all levels of government to drive growth and development across Labrador. For more information, please visit www.labradorwestchamber.com.

The LWCC is seeking a strategic and collaborative leader to serve as Manager of the Business Liaison Office for the region. This office will play a key role in preparing the Labrador West region for mining sector growth, with a primary focus on advancing major projects including Champion Iron's Kami Project, the Juliane Lake Project, and expansion work at existing operations such as IOC Rio Tinto and Tacora Resources. A critical enabling factor for this development is the advancement of major hydroelectric projects — Gull Island, Muskrat Falls, and Churchill Falls — which, while falling under the LNCC’s jurisdiction, directly impact Labrador West's capacity for Social and Commercial growth. As such, this office will work closely with the LNCC to help support and prepare for those hydroelectric developments.

This role will champion discussions with NL Hydro regarding the need for additional power to enable regional mining development, and the Manager will take a lead role in building and nurturing partnerships, both within and outside the region, to foster collaboration and position Labrador West for growth. Central to this will be preparing the region for upcoming large-scale developments within the broader context of the new Upper Churchill agreement, recognizing that progress on hydroelectric infrastructure is essential to the growth in the mining sector, a key area of future opportunity in the region.

What You’ll Do

Reporting to the Labrador West Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, the Board of the LWCC and to the committee of the Lab West Alliance, the Manager will lead the coordination of stakeholders, development of strategic initiatives, and execution of activities that position Labrador businesses to benefit from these developments while mitigating associated risks.

As the individual responsible for coordinating regional readiness and response to major project development, the Manager will utilize their leadership, relationship-building, and strategic planning skills to engage a broad range of stakeholders, foster inclusive dialogue, and ensure that the voices of local communities, businesses, and equity-deserving groups are heard and reflected - helping to position them to benefit from these transformative opportunities in a meaningful way.

This is a unique and fulfilling opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of economic development in Labrador West. As the Manager of the Business Liaison Office, you will be instrumental in ensuring Western Labradorians and Western Labrador-based businesses are positioned to benefit from generational development opportunities, while also addressing challenges in workforce readiness, housing, and infrastructure.
