Program Type: Paid Professional Fellowship (Summer Internship)

Program Duration: 12 Weeks (June 1st, 2026 - August 21st, 2026)

Time Commitment: 32 hours per week (~384 hours total)

Location: Hybrid. Activities include virtual collaboration, in-person industry events, and potential site visits across the BioHealth Capital Region, including biopharma companies, CDMOs, and supporting organizations.

Compensation: Paid internship. Compensation details will be communicated upon selection.


Program Overview:

The BioBuzz BioCatalyst Fellowship is a structured, high-impact professional development program designed to provide graduate students and recent graduates with immersive exposure to the life sciences ecosystem.


The Industry Track is specifically designed for individuals interested in understanding the operational, workforce, and market dynamics of established life sciences organizations, including biopharmaceutical companies, contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs), and supporting service providers.


Fellows in this track will focus on analyzing how established organizations operate, scale, and contribute to the broader ecosystem. This includes gaining insight into manufacturing, quality, regulatory, research and development, and corporate functions, as well as understanding workforce trends and talent needs across the industry.


Through direct engagement with industry professionals and companies, fellows will develop a comprehensive understanding of how large-scale life sciences organizations function and how innovation is translated into commercialized therapies.


This role also directly supports BioBuzz’s mission to amplify the companies, careers, and talent shaping the BioHealth Capital Region by producing high-quality content and insights that highlight established industry leaders and career pathways.


Program Objectives:

The BioCatalyst Fellowship is designed to:

  • Provide in-depth exposure to established life sciences companies and industry operations 
  • Develop understanding of workforce structures, talent needs, and career pathways within biotech and biopharma 
  • Build foundational knowledge of key industry functions, including manufacturing, quality, regulatory, and R&D 
  • Translate complex operational and market insights into accessible, engaging content 
  • Highlight companies and professionals shaping the regional life sciences ecosystem 
  • Strengthen connections between emerging talent and established industry organizations


Fellowship Responsibilities:

Fellows will contribute to BioBuzz initiatives across four primary areas:

1). Industry Mapping & Market Intelligence

  • Conduct a comprehensive mapping of established life sciences companies, including: 
  • Biopharmaceutical companies 
  • Contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs) 
  • CROs and service providers 
  • Supporting organizations across the value chain 
  • Analyze key industry dynamics, including: 
  • Workforce trends and hiring needs 
  • Company growth and expansion 
  • Manufacturing and operational models 
  • Regional and national market trends 
  • Develop structured outputs such as: 
  • Industry landscape maps 
  • Workforce trend analyses 
  • Company segmentation and categorization 
  • Insight briefs on key sectors
  • Trend analyses and insight briefs


2). Industry Engagement & Stakeholder Interaction

  • Engage directly with professionals across established life sciences organizations 
  • Participate in industry events, networking sessions, and company engagements 
  • Conduct interviews with: 
  • Industry leaders and executives 
  • Professionals across manufacturing, quality, R&D, and regulatory functions 
  • Workforce development and talent leaders 
  • Build professional relationships across the life sciences industry


3). Ecosystem Storytelling & Content Development

  • Fellows will develop written and digital content for BioBuzz platforms, including:
  • Company spotlight features highlighting established organizations 
  • Career pathway articles showcasing roles across functions such as: 
  • Manufacturing 
  • Quality and Compliance 
  • Research and Development 
  • Regulatory Affairs 
  • Project Management and Operations 
  • Professional interviews and thought leadership features 
  • Industry trend analyses and workforce insights
  • Event recaps and ecosystem highlights 

Content will be designed to bridge the gap between industry complexity and student or early-career understanding.


4). Strategic Initiative Support

  • Support BioBuzz initiatives focused on workforce development and industry engagement 
  • Contribute to programs that connect talent with established companies 
  • Assist with event coordination and stakeholder engagement 
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the visibility of career pathways within life sciences


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Recently completed undergraduate degree or currently pursuing a graduate degree (Master’s or equivalent) 
  • Strong interest in biotechnology, life sciences innovation, startups, or venture ecosystems 
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research and synthesize complex information 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Academic or professional background in life sciences, business, public health, engineering, or related field.
  • Ability to engage professionally with industry stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Exposure to or interest in: 
  • Biopharma or biotech operations 
  • Manufacturing, quality, or regulatory environments 
  • Workforce development or talent strategy 
  • Experience in: 
  • Research and analysis 
  • Writing or content development 
  • Professional or academic projects related to life sciences
