Head of Brand Marketing (Full Time)
Location: Remote (US time zones) | Reports to: Founders
Who we are
FODZYME is an enzyme blend clinically shown to break down FODMAPs—the fermentable carbs in foods like garlic, onion, wheat, and beans that trigger bloating, gas, and pain for the 1 in 7 adults living with IBS. Think Lactaid, but for dozens more trigger foods. Our patent-pending formulation is backed by peer-reviewed clinical data, and that evidence base is compounding every year.
We are growing fast and profitably. We have real product-market fit, a passionate customer base, and a category we are actively defining. We are hiring a Head of Brand Marketing to build and steward the FODZYME brand as we scale—someone who can translate an already-strong point of view into exceptional, consistent execution across every touchpoint the customer meets
The role
This role is not about reinventing FODZYME from scratch. We have a real point of view and a customer base that already loves us. Your job is to translate that vision into scalable execution—bring new ideas to the table, upgrade our craft, and make sure the brand shows up with intention everywhere it appears.
You'll own our brand strategy, organic marketing, and creative execution. You'll be a peer to our Head of Performance Creative (who owns paid acquisition and creator-led growth) and work closely with the founders on brand vision. You will manage our Social Media Manager and co-manage our copywriters. Over time, you'll build the brand team as we grow.
This role requires craft, taste, and consistency. Every piece of copy, every post, every campaign should ladder up to a coherent brand narrative that compounds over time.
Who you are
-
You have 6-10 years of hands-on marketing experience at a DTC brand, ideally in health, wellness, supplements, or food. Strong plus for regulated categories (supplements, OTC, functional foods) where claims discipline is required.
-
You have built and scaled marketing programs in a startup environment. You have operated inside brand engines where quality, velocity, and taste all mattered. You have been in the weeds—writing briefs, reviewing creative, managing partners—not just directing from the sidelines.
-
You are a brand thinker with taste. You have strong opinions about voice, tone, and positioning. You can look at a piece of content and articulate why it works or doesn't. You care about how the brand shows up in the world, not just what it costs to acquire a customer.
-
You are a strong writer and editor. You can write copy yourself and you can uplevel others' writing—your copywriters, your social manager, and the AI-assisted drafts everyone leans on. You know how to make brand voice a repeatable system, not just a personal instinct.
-
You are analytical and metrics-driven. You can read the numbers on retention, conversion rate, LTV, churn, and reactivation and know which brand levers actually move them. Even though you don't own lifecycle execution, you should understand how brand and content strengthen or weaken those metrics.
-
You have management experience. You have hired, coached, and held a standard with direct reports. You know how to give feedback, delegate, and build a team culture that produces excellent work.
-
You thrive in a startup environment. You are comfortable with fast pace, frequent change, and working without a playbook. You take feedback well, flag what is not working, and bring an experimental framework to the job.
-
You value scientific rigor. FODZYME operates in a regulated dietary supplement space. Our brand promise is that we are scientific, we care deeply, and our product is about quality of life. You treat FDA/FTC compliance as a hard line, not a suggestion.
-
You genuinely care about our customers. FODZYME customers are real people navigating a condition that affects their meals, their social lives, and their sense of normalcy. Empathy is the foundation of every campaign, every post, and every brand decision.
What you’ll do
Own brand strategy and stewardship
- Steward FODZYME's brand positioning, voice, and visual identity alongside the founders.
- Ensure consistency and quality across all brand touchpoints—social, web, email, packaging, PR.
- Evolve the brand thoughtfully as the company scales without diluting what makes it work.
- Establish content pillars that ladder up to a coherent brand narrative.
Own organic marketing
- Set the strategy for organic social and manage our Social Media Manager to execute against it.
- Own brand campaigns, PR, partnerships (non-creator), and other one-off organic plays that build brand equity over time.
- Direct or brief creative work across channels—short-form video, static content, campaigns, editorial.
Manage and grow the team
- Manage our Social Media Manager from day one.
- Co-manage marketing copywriters with our Head of Customer Experience & Retention.
- Manage external partners: freelance designers, agencies, and creative vendors.
- Hire additional brand and creative team members as the business scales.
Measure and report
- Establish KPIs for brand-driven work: brand awareness, engagement, content performance, share of voice, and the qualitative signals that show the brand is landing.
- Report weekly on what's working, what isn't, and what changes next.
Partner cross-functionally
- Partner closely with the Head of Customer Experience & Retention. This is a critical partnership—together you own the customer journey from first impression through long-term loyalty, and the brand and CX layers need to reinforce each other at every touchpoint.
- Partner with the Head of Performance Creative on brand-safe creative that also performs in paid.
- Partner with the Head of Creator Partnerships (or equivalent) on how creator content integrates into our owned brand voice.
- Surface customer insights, retention risks, and brand health signals to the founders.
