Senior / Staff Product Designer
Overview:
This is a 0→1 product design opportunity within Eli Lilly’s Lilly Direct pharmacy platform. The
team is building both consumer-facing healthcare experiences and internal support tools
(including call center UI). The environment is fast-moving, highly ambiguous, and requires
strong ownership — closer to a startup or agency model within a large organization.
Contract Details:
●Role: Senior / Staff Product Designer (Principal level considered)
●Duration: Through end of January 2027
●Rate: $90/hr (Senior),
~$95/hr (Principal)
Location: Remote (Ideal alignment to ET hours)
●Interview Process: 1 stage
What You’ll Be Working On (First 3–6 Months):
●Building out the Lilly Direct digital health platform (0→1)
●Designing end-to-end consumer experiences across web and mobile
●Creating internal support tools (call center UI)
●Contributing to new, confidential products and features on the roadmap
●Working across both concept/blue-sky work and production execution
Team Structure:
The team operates in pods, each consisting of a design lead, UX designer, and visual designer,
with a UX researcher supporting across pods.
Current hiring needs:
Consumer Pod:
○2 UI-heavy Product Designers (strong visual + product thinking)●
Support Pod:
○1 Product Designer
○1 Creative Technologist (product designer with front-end coding ability)
What They’re Looking For:
High Agency & Ownership:
●Ability to take a problem or PRD and run with it independently
●Comfortable owning entire workstreams end-to-end
●No reliance on detailed tickets or structured requirements
Comfort with Ambiguity:
●Experience working in undefined or evolving problem spaces
●Able to balance multiple workstreams and priorities
●Strong 0→1 product thinking
Strong UI / Visual Craft:
●High-quality, polished UI design is critical
●Especially important for consumer-facing work
Speed & Execution:
●Ability to move quickly from concept to production
●Comfortable shipping high-quality work under time constraints
AI-Native Mindset:
●Comfortable using tools like Claude, Copilot, Figma AI
●Open to integrating AI into design workflows
Preferred Backgrounds:
●Agency experience strongly preferred (e.g., IDEO or similar environments)
●Startup experience is valuable, particularly if you’ve shipped products end-to-end
●Experience working across full customer journeys, not just isolated features
Bonus Experience:
●Highly regulated environments (healthcare, fintech, banking)
●Understanding of constraints and compliance without slowing down delivery
Candidates that are not a fit:
●Designers who require highly structured environments or detailed tickets
●Candidates with experience limited to a single feature area
●Slow, perfection-driven workflows over shipping
●Weak visual/UI execution
●Lack of ownership or inability to speak to impact

●This is not a traditional enterprise healthcare role — the team operates with a high level
of autonomy and speed
●Designers are expected to move fluidly between concept work and production
●Strong collaboration and communication are key given the cross-functional pod structure
●The team is growing quickly and looking to scale from ~10 to ~15–20 members
