Apply for this job

Our client, a California based Studio, is hiring a contract motion designer. They aim to help businesses identify opportunities and solve their most pressing problems. Thumb-stopping campaigns, brand formation, and world-class interface design are just a few ways they drive impact. They are looking for a Motion Designer who deeply understands brand and product nuance. This person brings brands to life through animation, video, and interactive motion across digital campaigns, product UI, social content, and beyond. You have a strong design foundation and an instinct for timing, pacing, and storytelling that makes work impossible to scroll past.

Key Responsibilities

  • Concept and execute motion work across a range of formats: UI animations, social content, brand videos, explainer films, campaign assets, and web interactions.
  • Collaborate with brand and web designers to define how motion shows up across client projects, from micro-interactions to full campaign rollouts.
  • Develop motion guidelines and reusable animation systems that give clients a consistent, on-brand language for movement.
  • Partner with developers to ensure animations are feasible and translate accurately from After Effects, Rive, or Lottie into live environments.
  • Edit and post-produce video content when needed, including pacing, sound design, and color.
  • Contribute to creative concepting from the start of a project, bringing a motion-first perspective to how ideas could come to life.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience: 4+ years in motion design with a portfolio that shows range across brand, digital, and social contexts. Agency or client-facing experience is strongly preferred.
  • Creative Vision: A sharp design eye and a deep intuition for how motion creates emotion. Your work doesn't just move, it communicates.
  • Tool Proficiency: Expert in After Effects and the Adobe Suite. Experience with Lottie, Rive, or Cavalry is a big plus. Familiarity with Figma for handoff is expected.
  • Multitasker: Comfortable running multiple projects at different stages simultaneously without missing deadlines or cutting corners.
  • Communication: Able to present and defend creative motion decisions clearly and receive feedback with an open mind.
  • Organization & Detail: Strong file hygiene, clean project organization, and reliable handoff documentation.
  • Extreme Ownership Mentality: You take full responsibility for the quality of your output and proactively push work further before anyone has to ask.
  • AI Forward: Experimenting with AI-assisted tools to accelerate ideation, asset creation, and production workflows.
  • Sense of Humor: You keep the energy positive and creative even when revisions pile up.
  • "That Dog": Relentlessly curious about the craft, always studying what's moving culture, and hungry to make the best work of your career.
