About the Role
We’re supporting a growing design initiative within Eli Lilly’s Clinical Trials portfolio and are looking for a Senior Product Designer to help reimagine the end-to-end trial discovery experience.
This designer will partner closely with an existing product design contractor and cross-functional stakeholders to redesign core patient-facing experiences across trial search, AI-powered discovery, and educational content. Design sprints are already underway, so the ideal candidate is someone who can ramp quickly and operate confidently in ambiguity.
This is a highly strategic, hands-on product design role focused on crafting intuitive, scalable experiences that help patients better navigate and understand clinical trial opportunities.
What You’ll Do
- Redesign the clinical trial detail experience, improving layout, hierarchy, and usability
- Design AI-powered experiences including conversational interfaces, AI-assisted search, and educational discovery flows
- Rethink search experiences for clinical trials, balancing traditional search functionality with emerging generative AI patterns
- Create educational and informational experiences that support patient understanding and engagement
- Work within Eli Lilly’s established design system while identifying opportunities for custom components where needed
- Collaborate with design systems partners to evolve and extend components for unique trial-specific use cases
- Ensure a cohesive, accessible, and brand-aligned experience across the broader clinical trials ecosystem
- Partner cross-functionally with product, engineering, content, and design stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle
What We’re Looking For
- Strong senior-level product design experience across complex digital products
- Experience designing AI-integrated experiences, including chat, AI search, or recommendation/discovery systems
- Deep understanding of UX, interaction design, and information architecture
- Experience working within established design systems and enterprise brand guidelines
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and contribute strategically while remaining highly hands-on in execution
- Strong visual craft and systems thinking
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Nice to Have
- Healthcare, patient-facing, or health-tech experience
- Experience designing educational or information-dense platforms
- Prior experience with generative AI search or AI-assisted discovery experiences
Important Note
This is not a pure design systems role. The focus is on product experience design using an established design system — not owning or building the system itself.
Timeline / Process
- Urgent hiring timeline with active design sprints already kicking off
- Candidates should be available to move quickly through process
- Portfolio presentation and strong storytelling around complex UX problem-solving will be important throughout interviews
