Bilt is looking for a design leader who loves making teams work well. This role is for a designer by trade who has grown into team management and operations—and wants to lead people, manage incoming work, and build better ways of working across the company.

You’ll lead a team of three full-time and one part-time designers. You’ll work closely with partners across product, engineering, sales, marketing, and content to understand requests, set priorities, allocate work, and communicate realistic timelines. You’ll also help improve how work enters the team, including ticketing, revisions, and last-minute requests.

This is not primarily an individual-contributor design role. You will, however, need the design judgment and production skills to coach designers and step into execution when needed. The balance between management and hands-on work may evolve with the team’s needs.

What you’ll do

• Manage and support the design team, helping designers prioritize and deliver their work.
• Serve as a point of coordination between the team and cross-functional partners.
• Assess incoming requests, negotiate priorities and timelines, and keep work moving.
• Improve workflows for intake, task tracking, revisions, and resource allocation.
• Use your design experience to guide execution and help with hands-on work when necessary.
• Explore tools and processes that make the team more effective.

What we’re looking for

• A strong graphic design background and experience managing designers.
• Genuine enthusiasm for people leadership, organization, and strategic prioritization.
• Fluency in design production and an understanding of what it takes to prepare and deliver assets.
• The ability to navigate competing requests and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
• A willingness to roll up your sleeves when the work calls for it.
• Design sensibility that can balance Bilt’s lifestyle-oriented identity with evolving business needs.

Experience in fintech is not required. The team currently uses monday.com and is open to better tools or approaches.
