OVERVIEW

Our client is looking for a highly skilled and culturally savvy Video Editor to join our fast-paced, social-first content team on a full-time basis in New York City. This role is perfect for someone who understands the nuances of pop culture & finance, and thrives in an environment where priorities can shift overnight. You’ll be responsible for editing high-volume short-form video content across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube ensuring every piece is on-brand, engaging, and optimized for platform-specific performance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, lightning-fast with edits, and fluent in both the technical and cultural aspects of content creation. Bonus if the candidate can support in capturing content - expertise in cameras, composition, lighting, etc. You will work very closely with the founder and a digital manager. You will engage regularly with her COO, manager, and other contract team members, regularly working with brand partners.


RESPONSIBILITIES KEY DELIVERABLES

● 6x short-form videos/week for Instagram, with tailored exports for TikTok, YouTube, and X.

● Thumbnail creation for each video, optimized for platform click-through.

● Imagery Sourcing for each video, optimized for the brand, relevant to the content

● Light animation, titling for each video to enhance / engage the audience.

● Color grading, audio polishing for each video


CONTENT

● Edit multiple short-form videos per week with speed and precision.

● Create (and follow existing) series concepts

● Implement the brand's identity through motion graphics, text overlays, memes, music selection, pacing — maintaining consistency while expanding creatively when reasonable.

● Incorporate trending pop culture references, celebrity moments, and entertainment cues when appropriate. Select excellent backgrounds with thoughtful content and composition.

● Keep abreast of editing trends and platform best practices, evolving style as needed.


CONTENT STRATEGY & OPTIMIZATION

● Edit with performance metrics in mind (watch time, shares, saves, CTR).

● Place strong emphasis on high-impact hooks (first few seconds), thumbnails, and retention techniques.

● Suggest creative concepts based on content performance without waiting for direction.

● Follow and implement strict brand partner guidelines, including legal disclaimers and brand usage rules.


WORKFLOW & EFFICIENCY

● Manage a structured content pipeline, handling multiple projects at once without bottlenecks.

● Balance “evergreen” and “as it happens” content with equal efficiency.

● Respond positively to multiple rounds of feedback from both the internal team and external partners.


REQUIREMENTS

● 2-3+ years experience editing for social-first brands or personalities.

● Willingness and enthusiasm to explore AI tools to simplify the edit process.

● Mastery of Adobe Premiere Pro (or equivalent), Photoshop, and After Effects (or Canva motion tools where relevant).

● Proven track record of producing engaging, high-performing content for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

● Ability to follow and expand on brand guidelines without losing creative flair.

● Strong understanding of pop culture, entertainment news, and social trends.

● Experience sourcing and clearing media assets (images, footage, music).

● Exceptional organizational skills — able to juggle multiple edits without sacrificing quality.

● Comfortable working in a remote, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
