A client of ours a health tech company is building their marketing function from the ground up. They are looking for a strong freelance digital brand designer who can jump in quickly, work in ambiguity, and help us build an elevated, cohesive brand across channels.
This role has a clear path to full-time for the right person, but we’re also open to short-term engagements.
Role Overview

Title: Freelance Digital Brand Designer

Hours: ~10–20 hours/week (starting around 20; flexible based on workload and fit)

Location: Remote, with a plus for Boston (relocation not required; potential stipend if converting to full-time later)

Start date: ASAP (yesterday, ideally)

Engagement: Monthly retainer, with potential to extend and/or convert to full-time
You’ll be the founding designer on the marketing side, partnering closely with our Head of Brand/Marketing and lifecycle team to ship high-quality work quickly.
What You’ll Work On
Near term (next 1–2 months):

Email & lifecycle designDesign on-brand, conversion-minded lifecycle and campaign emails
- Create modular systems we can reuse and evolve over time

Paid media & performance assetsTranslate brand direction into high-performing ads across paid social and other channels
- Iterate on creative based on performance learnings

Launch & campaign supportSupport design needs related to an upcoming Kickstarter launch
- Help develop assets and light creative direction for a general content/video shoot (asset library, not full campaign)
Over time:

Contribute to social content design (and partner with a future social/content hire)
- Extend the brand across web, landing pages, and other touchpoints
- Help operationalize our design systems, templates, and standards as we scale
What We’re Looking For
Experience & skills

3–5 years of experience in digital brand design, visual design, or art direction for consumer brands

Strong portfolio of brand-forward, multi-channel work (email, social, paid, web, etc.)

Comfortable designing for early-stage brands without fully finalized brand systems

Ability to move from high-level concept to production-ready files quickly
- Strong grasp of layout, typography, color, and storytelling
- Proficiency with modern design tools (Figma/Sketch/Adobe CC, etc.)

Comfortable as a solo/founding designer partnering with non-design stakeholders
- Organized, responsive, and able to manage your own bandwidth and timelines
- Open to feedback and fast iteration; comfortable testing and learning from performance data
- Collaborative with marketers, founders, and external partners (e.g., brand agency)
