Senior UX Researcher Contractor
Overview
We are seeking a Senior UX Researcher contractor to support product teams within our
digital portfolio. This role is for a researcher who can operate independently and
translate research into clear product direction.
The ideal candidate is a crisp communicator with strong product instincts, comfortable
partnering directly with design and product leaders. We are looking for someone who
focuses on decision-making and outcomes, not academic research exercises.
This role will run studies end-to-end and deliver insights that directly inform product
strategy and design decisions.
Responsibilities
- Lead UX research studies from scoping through final readout
- Partner with product and design to frame research questions tied to product decisions
- Design and execute studies such as:
- usability testing
- journey exploration
- concept evaluation
- in-depth interviews
- Scope and execute lean research quickly when product teams need rapid input
- Synthesize findings into clear, actionable insights
- Deliver concise presentations that help teams make product decisions quickly
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners across product, design, and engineering
- Advise teams on when research is needed and what methods are most appropriate
Qualifications
- 6+ years conducting UX research for digital products
- Demonstrated ability to run research independently end-to-end
- Exceptional written communication skills and strong attention to detail in research materials, documentation, and stakeholder presentations
- Strong product mindset; comfortable connecting research findings to design and product direction
- Experience working closely with product managers and designers
- Ability to simplify complex insights into clear, decision-ready recommendations
What We Are Looking For
The strongest candidates will demonstrate:
- Clear and structured thinking
- Concise communication
- Practical, product-oriented research
- Strong judgment about when and how research should be used
- Comfort making decisions and moving forward with incomplete information
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute positively to team discussions and shared research practices
This role requires someone who can operate autonomously, partner effectively with others, and add immediate value to product teams.
Submission Requirements
A portfolio can be included, but we ask candidates to submit two contrasting research studies that demonstrate how they approach different research situations.
For each study, please include:
- Study plan or research brief
- Discussion guide / protocol / user test configuration
- Final stakeholder presentation or report
The two studies should ideally represent different types of research, such as:
- generative vs evaluative
- discovery vs usability testing
- early concept work vs shipped product evaluation
