About the Company

This fast-growing AI startup builds advanced systems that help institutional investors discover and evaluate investment ideas with exceptional speed and depth. The team includes ex-Databricks, Meta, Goldman Sachs, and McKinsey professionals, and is backed by leading asset managers and angel investors from OpenAI, Uber, and LinkedIn. They already serve paying customers managing over $120B in assets and are seeing strong demand across the financial sector.

About the Role

This is a rare opportunity to define the user experience of a next-generation AI product from first principles. As the founding product designer, you’ll shape how professionals interact with a deeply intelligent research system that reads and reasons across massive volumes of multimodal data—text, tables, and images. You’ll work across the full product lifecycle, from early research and prototyping to elegant, high-density UI design for expert users.

Responsibilities

  • Set the design vision and define foundational practices for a new category of AI-native products
  • Design interactive, information-rich interfaces for workflows involving AI-generated insights, multimodal search, and complex visualizations
  • Lead user research with institutional investors—from hedge fund analysts to Fortune 500 CIOs
  • Prototype novel interaction patterns for machine reasoning and algorithm evaluation
  • Build a modular, scalable design system to support a growing product
  • Produce visual assets for public-facing collateral, including decks, campaigns, and web pages

What We’re Looking For

  • 7+ years of end-to-end product design experience, ideally in startups or fast-moving teams
  • Mastery of Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, and other design tools
  • Experience designing data-rich applications or ML/AI-based products
  • A strong user research approach that generates insight without bias
  • A deep sense of visual quality, information hierarchy, and interaction design
  • Bonus: background in fintech, enterprise software, or workflow-heavy tools (e.g., Photoshop, Notion, or Terminal-style apps)
  • Bonus: familiarity with technical constraints faced by engineers working with complex data

What Success Looks Like

  • You’re shipping prototypes quickly and influencing product direction early
  • Your designs make complex, intelligent systems feel intuitive and actionable
  • You’re establishing a thoughtful design culture that balances speed with craft
  • You’re deeply engaged with users and translating feedback into meaningful design decisions

Culture & Values

  • Ownership – Take responsibility, drive outcomes
  • Humility – Be open, curious, and adaptable
  • Craftsmanship – Sweat the details
  • Focus – Protect time, build what matters
  • Empathy – Start with understanding
  • Humor – Don’t take yourself too seriously
