Our client, a skincare company based in NYC, is looking for an experienced freelance Packaging Designer / Production Designer to support their Creative team across primary and secondary packaging, seasonal programs, sampling, GWPs, and collateral.

This role is ideal for someone who is highly detail-oriented, organized, and deeply experienced in beauty/skincare packaging. We’re looking for someone who can move comfortably between design and production—developing and refining packaging concepts while also managing the precision required to bring them through production, approvals, and vendor handoff.

Responsibilities

• Execute production updates to existing primary and secondary packaging, including artwork revisions, copy changes, and regulatory updates. 
• Develop packaging concepts and visual directions across primary, secondary, seasonal, sampling, GWP, and collateral. 
• Support larger packaging evolution and redesign initiatives across the product portfolio. 
• Translate approved creative into detailed, production-ready files and mechanicals for vendor handoff. 
• Ensure packaging artwork meets print specifications, production requirements, and deadlines. 
• Partner closely with packaging and print vendors throughout sampling, proofing, comp development, and production. 
• Manage multiple rounds of internal and vendor reviews, including physical samples, comps, and PDF proofs. 
• Maintain exceptionally organized working files, production files, and final artwork. 
• Establish and maintain consistent file-management and packaging-layout standards. 
• Prepare and organize files for seamless handoff to our AP teams and support the transition of packaging artwork processes to Osan. 
• Partner closely with Creative, Marketing, Product Development, and cross-functional global teams. 
• Help maintain and uphold the brands packaging guidelines, visual identity, and overall look and feel. 

What We’re Looking For

Strong experience in beauty or skincare packaging is essential. You should have a deep understanding of packaging production, print processes, artwork preparation, dielines, proofing, and vendor handoff, along with excellent Adobe Creative Suite skills.

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is meticulous, proactive, highly organized, and comfortable managing a high volume of packaging details and simultaneous projects. This person should be able to spot inconsistencies before they become production problems and confidently drive work from creative development through final approval.

Schedule: 4 days/week (30 hours/week), with Tuesday–Thursday onsite at NYC headquarters and one remote day.
