Job Title: Project Planner (6-Month Contract)

Location: Teesside, UK

Sector: Power Generation

Contract Duration: 6 Months (Fixed-Term / Contract)


Overview


We are seeking an experienced Project Planner to support the delivery of a major new build Thermal Power Station project in Teesside. This is a high-profile infrastructure project requiring strong planning expertise, stakeholder coordination, and the ability to manage complex schedules across multiple disciplines.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and manage integrated project schedules using industry-standard planning tools (e.g., Primavera P6 or MS Project)
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure alignment of project timelines
  • Monitor project progress against baseline schedules and identify potential delays or risks
  • Perform critical path analysis and provide mitigation strategies to maintain key milestones
  • Prepare and present regular progress reports, dashboards, and schedule updates to senior stakeholders
  • Support change management processes, including schedule impact assessments
  • Ensure compliance with project controls procedures and reporting standards
  • Collaborate with contractors and suppliers to ensure accurate schedule integration


Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Project Planner on large-scale infrastructure, energy, or industrial projects
  • Strong working knowledge of planning software such as Primavera P6 (preferred) or equivalent
  • Experience working on power generation or major construction projects is highly desirable
  • Solid understanding of project controls, scheduling methodologies, and risk management
  • Ability to interpret engineering and construction data into structured project plans
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail


Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field (preferred)
  • Professional membership (e.g., APM, PMI) is advantageous but not essential


Contract Details:

  • 6-month contract with potential for extension
  • Competitive day rate (dependent on experience)
  • Site-based role in Teesside with possible hybrid flexibility depending on project phase


Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience working in fast-paced, multi-contractor environments
  • Familiarity with UK energy or infrastructure regulations
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
