Overview
H9 Talent Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a leading renewable energy business on a large-scale energy infrastructure project across the UK.
This is a key commercial role responsible for managing project finances, contracts, and risk to ensure successful delivery of renewable energy schemes - including solar, wind, and energy storage developments. The ideal candidate will bring strong commercial acumen, contract knowledge (particularly NEC), and experience working within a principal contracting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all commercial aspects of renewable energy construction projects from pre-construction through to final account.
- Prepare, submit, and negotiate valuations, variations, and change controls.
- Oversee cost planning, forecasting, and reporting to maintain profitability and project efficiency.
- Administer and manage NEC3/NEC4 contracts, ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
- Support procurement strategy, including subcontract tendering, bid evaluation, and supplier negotiations.
- Provide commercial input to project planning and delivery, working closely with site and project managers.
- Ensure accurate cost capture and reporting in line with project budgets.
- Identify and manage commercial and contractual risks.
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure transparent communication and effective commercial management.
- Support project close-out, including final accounts and lessons-learned reviews.
Experience & Skills Required
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, civil engineering, or renewable energy sectors.
- Previous experience working for a Principal Contractor is essential.
- Strong knowledge of NEC contracts (Option A, C, and E).
- Experience in Energy from Waste, Solar, Wind, or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects.
