Job Title: Project Engineer (Mechanical)

Location: UK & Ireland – Base Location Flexible (Regular travel and extended periods on operational or project sites required)

Role Overview

The Project Engineer (Mechanical) plays a key role in delivering large-scale capital projects—primarily CCGT lifetime extensions, new builds, and other infrastructure developments—while providing technical support to operational sites. This role focuses on engineering leadership, technical assurance, and safe, efficient project execution.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement mechanical engineering strategies for major energy projects.
  • Lead preparation and review of technical specifications, designs, and tender documents.
  • Oversee engineering development, installation, commissioning, and performance testing.
  • Support project reporting, progress tracking, and risk management.
  • Provide technical input to investment decisions and plant upgrades.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure engineering standards are met.
  • Lead root cause analysis and promote cross-site learning and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Support staff development, recruitment, and contractor performance oversight.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree in Engineering or related discipline (required).
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or working towards.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and experienced in multi-site operations.


Experience

  • Significant experience in mechanical engineering within the energy or infrastructure sector.
  • Proven track record in CCGT plant operations or similar environments.
  • Background in project delivery, construction oversight, and contractor management.
  • Demonstrated leadership in safety, compliance, and performance improvement.
