Commercial Manager – Renewable Energy (Contract)

Overview
H9 Talent Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Commercial Manager to support a major renewable energy infrastructure project based in Bristol. This is a contract position operating outside IR35, offering the opportunity to play a key role in the commercial delivery of large-scale clean energy projects.
The successful candidate will take full commercial ownership of project performance, overseeing contract management, cost control, risk, and supply chain management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all commercial and contractual activities across multiple renewable energy projects.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports, ensuring financial targets are met.
- Administer and manage contracts in line with NEC3/NEC4 requirements.
- Oversee procurement processes including subcontractor selection, negotiation, and performance management.
- Provide commercial input into project strategy, planning, and delivery decisions.
- Review and negotiate contractual terms with clients and subcontractors to mitigate risk.
- Manage and resolve commercial claims, variations, and change control procedures.
- Collaborate closely with project management, engineering, and finance teams to ensure commercial alignment.
- Lead cost reporting cycles, cashflow forecasting, and value tracking throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support continuous improvement and best practice in commercial processes and governance.
Experience & Skills Required
- Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor within renewable energy, power generation, or large infrastructure sectors.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts and change management processes.
- Demonstrable experience in contract negotiation, cost reporting, and risk management.
- Background in EPC or Principal Contractor environments is advantageous.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong financial and analytical acumen with attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard commercial management software.
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
