Document Controller – Energy from Waste (Contract)

Overview
H9 Talent Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Document Controller to join a major Energy from Waste construction project based in Cambridgeshire. This is a contract position operating outside IR35, providing key support to the project team to ensure documentation is managed, controlled, and distributed effectively throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the project’s document control system, ensuring all documentation is up to date, accurate, and stored correctly.
- Process incoming and outgoing documentation, ensuring correct distribution to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Maintain document registers and trackers for drawings, technical submissions, RFIs, correspondence, and other key project documents.
- Ensure document numbering, formatting, and metadata comply with project procedures and standards.
- Support the issue and control of controlled documents including engineering drawings, specifications, and design reports.
- Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and consultants to ensure document management processes are followed consistently.
- Perform quality checks on documents before uploading or issuing.
- Track document revisions and ensure superseded files are archived appropriately.
- Provide administrative support to the project management and engineering teams as required.
- Produce weekly document control reports to support progress tracking and audits.
Experience & Skills Required
- Previous experience as a Document Controller within construction, engineering, or energy infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of document control procedures and version management.
- Experience using EDMS systems such as Asite, Aconex, Viewpoint, 4Projects, or SharePoint.
- Excellent organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise confidently across multidisciplinary teams.
- Competent in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining strong coordination with project teams.
- Familiarity with large-scale industrial or Energy from Waste projects is advantageous.
