Document Controller – Energy from Waste (Contract)

Location: Cambridgeshire

Contract Type: Contract (Outside IR35)

Day Rate: £300 Per Day

Overview

H9 Talent Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Document Controller to join a major Energy from Waste construction project based in Cambridgeshire. This is a contract position operating outside IR35, providing key support to the project team to ensure documentation is managed, controlled, and distributed effectively throughout the project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the project’s document control system, ensuring all documentation is up to date, accurate, and stored correctly.
  • Process incoming and outgoing documentation, ensuring correct distribution to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Maintain document registers and trackers for drawings, technical submissions, RFIs, correspondence, and other key project documents.
  • Ensure document numbering, formatting, and metadata comply with project procedures and standards.
  • Support the issue and control of controlled documents including engineering drawings, specifications, and design reports.
  • Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and consultants to ensure document management processes are followed consistently.
  • Perform quality checks on documents before uploading or issuing.
  • Track document revisions and ensure superseded files are archived appropriately.
  • Provide administrative support to the project management and engineering teams as required.
  • Produce weekly document control reports to support progress tracking and audits.


Experience & Skills Required

  • Previous experience as a Document Controller within construction, engineering, or energy infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of document control procedures and version management.
  • Experience using EDMS systems such as Asite, Aconex, Viewpoint, 4Projects, or SharePoint.
  • Excellent organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise confidently across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong coordination with project teams.
  • Familiarity with large-scale industrial or Energy from Waste projects is advantageous.
