Head of Fuel Operations

Location: National (travel to multiple UK sites)

Salary: Up to £80,000 + Excellent Benefits

H9 Talent Solutions are recruiting for a Head of Fuel Operations to join a leading organisation within the Energy from Waste (EfW) sector. This is a key senior leadership role responsible for overseeing fuel strategy, supply chain performance, and operational excellence across multiple sites nationally.

As Head of Fuel Operations, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliable, efficient, and sustainable sourcing, management, and delivery of waste feedstock that underpins the business’s power generation operations. You’ll work closely with site management teams, suppliers, and senior stakeholders to optimise fuel procurement, logistics, and quality control in line with commercial and environmental objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the national fuel operations strategy, ensuring continuous feedstock supply across multiple EfW facilities.
• Oversee supplier performance, contract management, and compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.
• Drive efficiencies in fuel logistics, quality, and cost management.
• Collaborate with operations, commercial, and sustainability teams to align supply chain performance with business goals.
• Provide strategic input into long-term fuel sourcing, market trends, and risk management.
• Lead a team of regional fuel and logistics professionals, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and innovation.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Significant experience in fuel or waste operations within the EfW, renewable energy, or waste management sectors.
• Strong understanding of feedstock supply chains, contracts, and logistics.
• Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills.
• Commercially astute with a strategic mindset and hands-on approach.
• Willingness to travel regularly to multiple sites across the UK.
