Job Title: Project Engineer (C&I – Control & Instrumentation)

Location UK & Ireland – Base Location Flexible (Frequent travel and periods on site required across UK and Ireland energy assets)

Role Overview

The Project Engineer (C&I) supports the delivery of major capital projects—including CCGT lifetime extensions and new developments—while providing technical expertise in control and instrumentation systems across operational sites. The role ensures project and plant systems operate safely, reliably, and in full compliance with technical and regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver C&I engineering strategies for large-scale energy projects.
  • Lead preparation and review of C&I specifications, designs, and documentation.
  • Oversee installation, commissioning, and testing of C&I systems.
  • Support engineering assessments, technical reviews, and commissioning planning.
  • Ensure quality standards through witness testing and contractor performance reviews.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis and implement lessons learned across sites.
  • Guide investment decisions through technical input and risk evaluation.
  • Support compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Lead and support C&I engineering teams and manage third-party contributions.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree in Engineering or related discipline (essential).
  • Chartered (CEng) or Incorporated (IEng) Engineer status, or working towards.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communicator with leadership ability across technical teams.
  • Self-motivated and capable of independent and team-based work.


Experience

  • Proven experience in C&I engineering within energy or process industries.
  • Knowledge of CCGT or similar generation environments (essential).
  • Project delivery and commissioning experience, including contractor oversight.
  • Track record of ensuring HSSE compliance and driving performance improvements.
  • Leadership in engineering environments with multi-discipline coordination.
