Health & Safety Manager – Battery Storage Project

Overview:

H9 Talent Solutions are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to support the delivery of a battery energy storage (BESS) project within the energy sector. This is a key role responsible for leading all health, safety, and environmental activities on site, ensuring compliance and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all Health & Safety activities across the project
• Ensure full compliance with HSE legislation, CDM Regulations (2015), and company policies
• Develop, implement, and maintain HSE plans, procedures, and documentation
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments (RAMS)
• Support and advise project teams, contractors, and subcontractors on best practice
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
• Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing HSE training
• Monitor performance and produce regular HSE reports for stakeholders
• Promote a proactive safety culture across all project teams

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Health & Safety Manager within energy, renewables, or infrastructure projects (BESS experience desirable)
• Strong working knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations
• Experience working on construction or EPC project environments
• NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
• Chartered or working towards (CMIOSH preferred)
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to operate independently in a site-based environment
