Quantity Surveyor – Energy from Waste (Contract)

Overview
H9 Talent Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a major Energy from Waste project based in Cambridgeshire. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing project costs, contracts, and commercial risk, ensuring all financial and contractual obligations are met throughout the construction phase.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all commercial aspects of the project from procurement through to final account.
- Prepare, review, and negotiate valuations, variations, and change controls.
- Administer and manage NEC3/NEC4 contracts, ensuring compliance with all contractual procedures and timescales.
- Support subcontract procurement, including tender evaluation and recommendation.
- Produce accurate cost reports, forecasts, and financial updates for the project leadership team.
- Work closely with project managers, planners, and engineers to monitor progress and assess commercial impacts.
- Identify and mitigate commercial risks, providing sound advice on contract and cost matters.
- Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure transparency and efficient project delivery.
- Support the resolution of claims and disputes where required.
- Ensure all commercial documentation and records are maintained in line with company and client requirements.
Experience & Skills Required
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the Energy from Waste, power generation, or large industrial construction sectors.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (Options A, C, and E).
- Previous experience working on large, complex infrastructure or process plant projects.
- Excellent commercial, analytical, and reporting skills.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard cost management systems.
- Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
