Overview

We are supporting a leading engineering contractor in their search for a driven and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious professional to play a key role across major engineering and energy projects, ensuring financial control, contractual compliance and commercial success from pre-construction through to project delivery.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all commercial and contractual aspects of assigned projects from inception to completion.
  • Prepare, submit, and negotiate valuations, variations, and final accounts.
  • Monitor project costs, expenditure, and cash flow to ensure accurate forecasting and cost control.
  • Support the preparation and administration of contracts (NEC/FIDIC or similar).
  • Provide commercial advice to project managers and engineering teams.
  • Review subcontractor quotations, negotiate terms, and manage subcontract accounts.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks, ensuring compliance with internal and external governance.
  • Contribute to tendering processes, pricing exercises, and commercial strategy development.
  • Maintain up-to-date project records, ensuring clarity and accuracy for internal reporting.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.


Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Engineer or similar commercial role within engineering, construction, utilities, or energy sectors.
  • Strong understanding of NEC contracts (or other relevant forms of contract).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communicator with strong negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Proficient in cost management tools, financial reporting and MS Office.
