MEP Quantity Surveyor – Energy from Waste Project

Contract: 12 Months
IR35 Status: Outside IR35
H9 Talent Solutions are supporting the appointment of an experienced MEP Quantity Surveyor for the EPC contractor on a major new build Energy from Waste project based in Essex. This is a long-term contract opportunity working on a high-value industrial infrastructure project during a critical delivery phase.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the commercial management of mechanical, electrical and piping packages from procurement through to final account, working closely with project delivery and supply chain teams on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial management of MEP packages across the project lifecycle
- Preparation, review and administration of subcontract agreements
- Measurement, valuation and cost reporting of mechanical and electrical works
- Assessment and agreement of variations, change orders and compensation events
- Supporting procurement activities including tender analysis and package awards
- Preparation and submission of applications for payment
- Monitoring subcontractor performance, valuations and final accounts
- Cost forecasting, budgeting and risk management
- Supporting project controls and reporting functions
- Liaising with engineering, construction and planning teams to ensure commercial alignment
- Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and project procedures
Requirements
- Proven experience as an MEP Quantity Surveyor within major industrial, energy, infrastructure or process engineering projects
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical installations on complex construction projects and building services
- Previous experience working on Energy from Waste, power generation, heavy industrial or similar large-scale projects is highly desirable
- Good knowledge of NEC and/or FIDIC forms of contract
- Ability to manage subcontract packages independently
- Strong commercial reporting and cost management skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capability
- Degree qualified or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management preferred
