The Opportunity
As part of the Operations team, the Site Manager will take ownership of a key site, leading all operations and maintenance activities across solar PV and BESS assets. Acting as the on-site owner’s representative, you will be the central point of coordination between internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders, ensuring safe, compliant, and high-performing operations.
This is a site-based role (Monday–Friday) located in Desert Center, California.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Oversight & Performance
- Oversee all O&M activities, ensuring alignment with company policies, contractual obligations, and industry standards
- Conduct routine site inspections and system assessments to proactively identify issues and maintain optimal performance
- Ensure safe, reliable, and high-performing operation of solar PV and BESS assets
- Lead and manage warranty claims and remediation activities, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption
Maintenance Strategy & Execution
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and corrective maintenance programmes
- Work closely with third-party O&M providers to optimise asset life and performance
- Coordinate scheduled maintenance, repairs, and system upgrades, ensuring high-quality execution and minimal downtime
- Monitor and manage spare parts inventory and procurement processes to support efficient maintenance operations
Stakeholder & Contractor Management
- Act as the primary on-site representative for the asset owner
- Serve as the key liaison between operators, contractors, service providers, and internal teams
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with all project stakeholders
- Oversee contractor performance to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and contractual requirements
Reporting, Communication & Compliance
- Provide clear, regular updates to senior leadership and cross-functional teams on site performance, maintenance activities, and risks
- Maintain accurate documentation, records, and reporting across all operational processes
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, permits, and operational standards
- Engage with local authorities, regulators, and community stakeholders to maintain strong relationships and ensure ongoing compliance
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy, Construction Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 4+ years’ experience in utility-scale solar PV O&M
- BESS experience preferred, with understanding of battery storage operations
- Strong technical knowledge of solar PV systems, design considerations, and operational best practices
- Experience supporting or leading project and contractor management activities
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across a wide range of stakeholders
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage documentation and reporting requirements
- Proficiency in tools such as Excel, Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Slack, or similar platforms
- Willingness to travel regionally and work in site-based, variable environmental conditions
