Job Title: Day Shift Team Leader

Location: Ardley

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Salary: £62,849 per annum

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Bonus: Annual performance-based bonus


Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and safety-conscious Day Shift Team Leader to lead operational activities within a high-performing Energy Recovery Facility. In this hands-on leadership role, you will manage a team within the Operations Department, support the Operations Manager, and play a critical role in maintaining the efficiency and safety of site operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operational activities and ensure smooth performance during the day shift.
  • Act as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) and oversee contractor activities on site.
  • Support annual planned shutdowns and coordinate associated tasks.
  • Conduct routine safety, emergency, and environmental drills; ensure proper documentation of findings.
  • Lead transparent investigations into incidents and accidents, identifying root causes and preventive actions.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication across all site teams and stakeholders.
  • Ensure all contractors and visitors are inducted into site safety and emergency protocols.
  • Deliver team briefings, toolbox talks, and provide on-shift guidance.


Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven supervisory or team leadership experience in a relevant setting.
  • Strong understanding of systems such as HP steam, boilers, electrical generation, and emissions—ideally from power, process, or naval engineering environments.
  • ONC/HNC or equivalent engineering qualification.
  • Confident communicator with experience delivering operational briefings and toolbox talks.


Desirable Qualifications

  • A formal management or leadership qualification.
  • Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental standards in a high-risk industrial environment.
