Business Development Manager

Salary: Up to £40,000 + Bonus Scheme + Company Car/Allowance + Benefits

Location: Remote – National travel required


H9 Talent Solutions are supporting a client in their search for an experienced Business Development Manager to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven professional with a proven track record in sales and business development, ideally within heavy industrial, mechanical, power, energy-from-waste, or refinery sectors.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across the UK, targeting clients in heavy industrial and related sectors.
  • Proactively generate leads through cold calling, networking, and prospecting.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospects, securing meetings and converting opportunities into long-term partnerships.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, from lead generation and qualification through to closing deals.
  • Develop tailored proposals and bids, ensuring alignment with client requirements.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure seamless handover of new accounts.
  • Attend networking events, trade shows, and client meetings across the UK.
  • Provide regular reporting and market insights to senior leadership.


Skills & Experience:

  • Proven track record in a business development or sales role, ideally within heavy industry, power generation, or related mechanical/engineering sectors.
  • Experience in cold calling and winning new business.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and comfortable working independently.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the UK, with some overnight stays required.
  • Full UK driving licence is essential.
