EC&I Commissioning Engineer
Location: Central Belt, Scotland

Role Overview
H9 Talent Solutions are looking for an experienced EC&I Commissioning Engineer to support the delivery and commissioning of a large-scale Energy-from-Waste facility in Scotland’s Central Belt. The successful candidate will play a key role in the safe and efficient commissioning of electrical, control, and instrumentation systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, regulatory standards, and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute commissioning activities for Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) systems across the EfW plant
- Review and interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, control philosophies, and cause & effect matrices
- Carry out loop checks, functional testing, and system validation
- Support cold and hot commissioning phases, including start-up and performance testing
- Interface with DCS/SCADA systems (e.g., Siemens, ABB, Schneider, or similar)
- Assist in energisation procedures and ensure compliance with safety protocols
- Coordinate with mechanical, process, and operations teams during integrated system testing
- Identify, log, and resolve commissioning issues via snagging and punch lists
- Ensure compliance with UK regulations, including HSE and site-specific safety requirements
- Support handover documentation, including commissioning dossiers and test records
- Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments (RAMS), and permit-to-work systems
Qualifications
- HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Relevant certifications (e.g., COMPEX, IOSH/NEBOSH, CCNSG Safety Passport) preferred
- Authorised Person / Senior Authorised Person experience (desirable)
