Overview
We are seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to support a large-scale Oil & Gas project in the South of England. This is a hands-on, site-based role requiring a proactive individual who thrives in a dynamic construction environment and is committed to driving behavioural health and safety improvements.
The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance, and engaging directly with the workforce to influence safe behaviours on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day HSE support across construction and engineering activities on site
- Act as a visible, boots-on-the-ground presence, engaging directly with supervisors, contractors, and operatives
- Lead and promote behavioural safety initiatives, encouraging positive safety culture and workforce ownership
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety walks, identifying hazards and ensuring timely close-out of actions
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and coaching sessions
- Support incident investigations, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with UK HSE legislation, company standards, and project-specific procedures
- Review and challenge RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements)
- Monitor high-risk activities (e.g. lifting operations, confined space, hot works)
- Liaise with client representatives, contractors, and internal stakeholders on all HSE matters
- Maintain accurate HSE records, reports, and documentation
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as an HSE Advisor within Oil & Gas, Energy, or major infrastructure projects
- Strong background in behavioural health and safety and cultural improvement programmes
- Demonstrable experience in a site-based, hands-on role (not purely administrative)
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to challenge and influence at all levels
- Solid understanding of UK HSE regulations and best practice
- Experience working under CDM Regulations
Qualifications & Certifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
- NEBOSH Diploma (desirable)
- Relevant CSCS card
- Additional certifications (e.g. confined space, lifting, first aid) advantageous
