South of England (Site-Based)

6–12 Months

Contract (Outside IR35)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to support a large-scale Oil & Gas project in the South of England. This is a hands-on, site-based role requiring a proactive individual who thrives in a dynamic construction environment and is committed to driving behavioural health and safety improvements.

The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance, and engaging directly with the workforce to influence safe behaviours on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day HSE support across construction and engineering activities on site
  • Act as a visible, boots-on-the-ground presence, engaging directly with supervisors, contractors, and operatives
  • Lead and promote behavioural safety initiatives, encouraging positive safety culture and workforce ownership
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety walks, identifying hazards and ensuring timely close-out of actions
  • Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and coaching sessions
  • Support incident investigations, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with UK HSE legislation, company standards, and project-specific procedures
  • Review and challenge RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements)
  • Monitor high-risk activities (e.g. lifting operations, confined space, hot works)
  • Liaise with client representatives, contractors, and internal stakeholders on all HSE matters
  • Maintain accurate HSE records, reports, and documentation

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience as an HSE Advisor within Oil & Gas, Energy, or major infrastructure projects
  • Strong background in behavioural health and safety and cultural improvement programmes
  • Demonstrable experience in a site-based, hands-on role (not purely administrative)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to challenge and influence at all levels
  • Solid understanding of UK HSE regulations and best practice
  • Experience working under CDM Regulations

Qualifications & Certifications

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
  • NEBOSH Diploma (desirable)
  • Relevant CSCS card
  • Additional certifications (e.g. confined space, lifting, first aid) advantageous

Personal Attributes

  • Proactive and confident with a strong presence on site
  • Passionate about improving safety behaviours, not just compliance
  • Approachable, credible, and able to build trust with the workforce
  • Strong observational and problem-solving skills
  • Resilient and adaptable in a fast-paced project environment

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive day rate (Outside IR35)
  • Opportunity to work on a major Oil & Gas project
  • High-impact role influencing site safety culture and performance
  • Immediate start available
