Vice President, Information Technology | Enterprise Applications

Why You'll Actually Care

District Partners is working with a high-growth technology company in the greater Washington, DC region entering a significant new stage of scale. The company needs a technology leader who has been through this kind of growth before, has personally built and scaled an internal IT function, and knows how to create an enterprise technology environment that can keep pace with the business.

This is not a traditional infrastructure-first VP of IT role. Enterprise applications are central to the mandate, with an opportunity to create a more integrated and automated environment while building the broader IT organization for what comes next.

The Basics

This is an established software and technology company with a growing global business and increasingly complex internal operations. Its next stage requires a more connected and scalable technology environment across revenue, finance, people, legal, collaboration, data, and other core functions.

This leader will look across applications, integrations, workflows, data, automation, and corporate IT to determine what needs to evolve as the organization grows. AI and GenAI are part of that evolution, with an emphasis on practical applications that improve how the business operates.

Before You Apply

Two pieces of experience are particularly important:

  • You have held an internal technology leadership role within a SaaS, software, or closely comparable high-growth technology company.
  • You have personally built or significantly scaled an internal IT organization alongside meaningful company growth, including the team, capabilities, systems, and operating model.

If your experience has primarily been in consulting, customer-facing technology, product/engineering, or established organizations without personally building and scaling the internal function, this role is unlikely to be the right fit.

What You'll Be Owning

  • Shape the enterprise applications strategy across Sales, Finance, HR, Legal, and other functions, creating a more integrated, automated, and scalable environment.
  • Own enterprise applications and the business processes they enable, not simply the infrastructure or cloud environments supporting them.
  • Eliminate manual processes through better integrations, workflow automation, data, and application design.
  • Scale the internal IT organization as the company grows, evolving the team, capabilities, operating model, and external partnerships as business complexity increases.
  • Own and modernize broader corporate IT, including infrastructure/cloud, workplace technology, identity and access, IT operations, service delivery, vendors, and technology standards.
  • Advance practical AI and GenAI initiatives where they can improve productivity, automate workflows, or create measurable business value.
  • Partner with security leadership to ensure enterprise technology, identity, vendors, and operating practices support the company's security and risk requirements.
  • Operate as a business technology leader across functions, translating business needs into technology priorities, investments, and measurable outcomes.
  • Lead technology transformation and change across a growing global organization, including continued growth and potential acquisition activity.

The Environment

There is a strong foundation to build from, including an existing team, established enterprise platforms, and technology initiatives already underway. The opportunity is to bring applications, integrations, data, automation, and the broader IT organization together as a more cohesive enterprise capability.

The title matters less than the scope you have already owned. A strong Senior Director, Head of IT, Head of Enterprise Technology, or #2 technology leader who has built and scaled significant parts of this mandate within a growing software or technology company could be particularly compelling.

What You Bring To The Table

  • 15+ years of progressive enterprise technology experience with significant leadership responsibility across enterprise applications and corporate IT.
  • Internal technology leadership experience within a SaaS, software, or closely comparable high-growth technology company.
  • Demonstrated experience personally building or scaling an internal IT organization alongside significant company growth.
  • Direct ownership of enterprise applications and the business processes they enable across multiple corporate functions.
  • Experience integrating and automating enterprise systems to create a more connected and scalable operating environment.
  • Broader corporate IT leadership across infrastructure/cloud, workplace technology, IT operations, identity and access, vendors, budgets, and service delivery.
  • Practical experience implementing AI, GenAI, or related automation internally, with examples of adoption or measurable business value.
  • Strong transformation and change leadership with the ability to operate across executive and functional stakeholders.
  • An operator's background with direct ownership inside an organization rather than primarily advising clients on how to achieve these outcomes.

A Few Things Worth Knowing

  • Compensation: Base salary approximately $215K to $285K, plus equity. Final compensation will vary based on experience and expertise. Bonus structure is still being confirmed.
  • Location: Greater Washington, DC region. Local candidates are preferred. Remote candidates may be considered, ideally on the East Coast, with flexibility for other locations for an exceptional candidate.
  • Work Model: Flexible, with the ability to spend time with the local team when needed.
  • Engagement Type: Full-time, direct-hire executive leadership role.
