Apply for this job

District Partners has been retained by a private equity-backed, multi-site behavioral health outpatient organization to identify a Director OR/ VP of Information Technology who can operate as a true player-coach—someone who leads with strategic clarity, builds trust across departments, and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves to get the work done.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a hands-on technologist with a proven track record in small, multi-site clinical environments. You’ll report directly to the CFO, work in close partnership with the CEO and department heads, and serve as the connective tissue between business operations, care delivery, and technology infrastructure.

Title: Director OR/ VP of Information Technology (Hybrid – Clinical & Business Systems)

Location: Burtonsville, MD | Hybrid (2–3 days onsite/week)

Compensation: $160K – $195K base (commensurate with experience)

🔒 Required: Experience supporting multi-site healthcare organizations, including direct ownership of EMR/EHR systems. Behavioral health and outpatient experience strongly preferred.

💼 Functional Focus:

  • Player-Coach Leadership
  • You’ll set the vision and lead strategy—but you’ll also dive into execution, whether it’s mapping out a rollout, troubleshooting a vendor issue, or helping a site go live. This is not a “stay in your lane” type of role.
  • Business Operator Mindset
  • Understand the revenue mechanics—reimbursement, throughput, access—and align IT efforts to support both mission and margin.
  • Executive Presence
  • Present confidently to the Board, private equity stakeholders, and clinical leaders. Translate technology into business value and ensure accountability across functions.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Engage directly with department heads to prioritize requests, resolve operational bottlenecks, and challenge assumptions to drive impact.

🛠️ Technical Ownership:

  • EMR/EHR Systems
  • Lead optimization, integration, and adoption of clinical platforms that directly support outpatient behavioral health services.
  • Windows 11 Migration
  • Manage an enterprise-level OS upgrade across multiple sites with minimal disruption.
  • SMS Communication Platform
  • Deploy tools that improve patient communication, appointment reminders, and engagement—integrated with clinical workflows.
  • SaaS & Business Applications
  • Oversee Salesforce, ADP, Office365, and additional business systems—ensuring seamless performance and scale.
  • New Site IT Launches
  • Own infrastructure readiness, systems access, and vendor coordination to support expansion into new clinic locations.
  • Security, Compliance & Budget
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance, manage IT budget and vendors, and oversee the organization’s security and risk posture.

🧠 You’re a Fit If You:

  • Have led IT in a PE-backed, multi-site outpatient healthcare setting—with direct responsibility for EMR/EHR platforms
  • Are equally comfortable in the boardroom and the back office—able to shift from strategic planning to system troubleshooting without missing a beat
  • Know how technology drives both clinical efficiency and financial performance
  • Thrive in lean, fast-paced environments where your ability to build trust, set direction, and deliver is critical to success
  • Bring a Player-Coach leadership style that balances empathy, accountability, and technical credibility
