Title: Cybersecurity Manager

Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid – 2 days onsite/week)

Travel: Less than 10%

Salary: $160,000 – $170,000

District Partners is working closely with the C-suite of a high-impact, mission-driven organization based in Washington, DC to help identify and hire a Cybersecurity Manager.  This role sits at the center of security operations for an organization with deep international influence and strong alignment with global democratic values.

This team supports one of the most strategically important regions in the world. Their work shapes policy, builds alliances, and drives public engagement on matters of global significance. Cybersecurity is more than a technical necessity here, it’s a mission-critical function that enables secure communication, protects sensitive data, and underpins trust with partners worldwide.

The Opportunity:

You’ll be responsible for managing daily cybersecurity operations, incident response, and long-term strategic defense initiatives. This is a leadership-level position ideal for someone who can operate confidently across the technical and executive spectrum — assessing risk, managing vendor relationships, and leading from the front in a high-stakes environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead core cybersecurity operations, including SOC oversight and incident response coordination.
• Manage relationships with third-party vendors, tools, and services to ensure consistent threat monitoring and response.
• Drive security projects that improve the organization’s defensive posture, reduce risk, and align with compliance frameworks.
• Translate threat intelligence into actionable security measures and organizational policy updates.
• Develop reports, dashboards, and briefings for internal stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Guide adherence to security standards including NIST CSF, PCI, and internal governance policies.

Qualifications:

• 5–7 years of experience in cybersecurity, including 2+ years managing or leading teams.
• Hands-on experience in incident response, threat management, and SOC/CIRT environments.
• Familiarity with governance frameworks like NIST, PCI, ISO, and best practices in risk management.
• Strong communication skills — able to convey technical issues clearly to both engineers and execs.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GSOM, or similar preferred.
• Experience working in advocacy-focused, mission-driven, or public affairs organizations is a plus.
