District Partners is partnering with an established, nationally recognized organization continuing to invest in and expand its cybersecurity capabilities. As its technology environment becomes increasingly cloud-based and interconnected, the organization is adding engineering capacity to strengthen how identity, applications and data are secured across the enterprise. This is a hands-on role with meaningful ownership across identity, Microsoft technologies, cloud applications, secure integrations and data protection, with the opportunity to independently drive projects and become a trusted technical resource across the organization.

The Basics

This is a hands-on security engineering role with identity and access management as a major technical pillar, but the scope extends well beyond IAM. You should bring real depth in several areas while being comfortable moving across technologies, administering systems in the cloud and solving problems that do not always come with a playbook. You will work across enterprise identity, Microsoft administration and security, cloud and SaaS platforms, APIs and application integrations, data protection and automation while interacting directly with infrastructure, application, support and business stakeholders.

What You'll Be Owning

• Engineer and improve identity and access capabilities across enterprise applications, including identity provider integrations, SSO, authentication, authorization, and access policies.
• Own hands-on administration and security engineering across Microsoft 365, Entra, and related Microsoft platforms, taking responsibility for configuration, identity, access, and security improvements across the environment.
• Design, implement, and troubleshoot secure connections between cloud and SaaS applications, including APIs, application connectors, credentials, keys, and secrets.
• Configure and improve data protection capabilities, including DLP, cloud access security controls, policy development, tuning, and incident handling.
• Develop PowerShell and other scripting and automation to improve identity workflows, Microsoft administration, security controls, and cloud processes.
• Identify security gaps and independently take technical projects from evaluation and design through implementation, including defining milestones, coordinating stakeholders, and measuring the effectiveness of security improvements.
• Serve as a hands-on security resource across the organization, translating business and technical requirements into practical solutions, researching unfamiliar problems and proactively sharing knowledge with the teams around you.

You will join an established organization with a significant national footprint, sophisticated business operations, and a modern technology environment that relies heavily on cloud and SaaS platforms. Security engineering spans enterprise identity, Microsoft technologies, cloud services, APIs, application connectivity, and data platforms, with exposure to areas such as data modeling, data warehouses, cloud-based data environments, and emerging AI security considerations. The team is intentionally lean, so this is an environment for someone who is proactive, technically resourceful, and comfortable figuring things out rather than waiting for step-by-step direction.

What You Bring To The Table

• 5+ years of hands-on cybersecurity, security engineering, or closely related IT engineering experience within an enterprise environment.
• Strong identity and access management experience, including identity providers, SSO, application integrations, authentication, authorization, and access controls.
• Hands-on Microsoft administration experience across Microsoft 365, Entra, and related enterprise administration and security capabilities.
• Experience administering and securing systems across cloud and SaaS environments, with AWS or broader public cloud experience valuable.
• Strong API and systems integration experience, including application connectors, API security, keys, credentials, and secrets management.
• Hands-on scripting and automation experience, particularly PowerShell, with Python experience valuable. You should understand the underlying technologies well enough to build, troubleshoot, and improve automation rather than depend entirely on AI-generated solutions.
• Experience with enterprise data protection and security controls, with familiarity around data classification, data modeling, data warehouses, and data platforms or pipelines particularly valuable.
• Demonstrated experience independently owning technical projects and interacting directly with stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, including the ability to understand requirements, communicate technical issues clearly, and move work forward across teams.
• A bachelor's degree in a relevant or related discipline and Security+ or a comparable baseline security certification. Continued technical development through additional training, certifications, or increasingly complex responsibilities is valued.
• Exposure to AI security and emerging integration patterns or technologies such as Model Context Protocol is valuable but not required.

A Few Things Worth Knowing

• Compensation: $132K to $165K base salary
• Location: Washington, DC
• Work Model: Hybrid, approximately 2 to 3 days onsite per week
• Engagement Type: Full-time, direct hire
• Work Authorization: Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and able to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
