Principal Data Product Engineer (AWS | Operational Intelligence)
Denver, CO
Apply for this job

District Partners is exclusively supporting a fast-scaling, engineering-led product company building intelligent infrastructure software deployed in high-consequence operational environments across public and private sectors.

The platform ingests distributed telemetry and environmental signals and converts them into real-time dashboards, risk indicators, and decision systems used by engineers, operators, and executive leadership. These are environments where uptime, risk, and operational clarity matter.

The company is actively expanding its footprint across multiple sectors and scaling deployments nationally.

Why This Role:

You will own the intelligence layer of a core go-to-market product.

This is not a reporting role. You will define how raw operational data becomes trusted signals, executive-level KPIs, and scalable decision frameworks across distributed environments.

You will report directly into senior engineering leadership and work closely with product stakeholders to shape roadmap priorities and architecture standards.

Approximately 90% of the organization is engineering. This is a small, technically rigorous team where strong, thoughtful opinions are valued and execution matters.

You will serve as the technical SME for Data Insights, remain deeply hands-on, and help guide a small team within the function as it scales.

What You Will Own:

  • End-to-end architecture of the product’s intelligence layer within AWS
  • Design of scalable, cloud-native data pipelines supporting distributed and high-frequency inputs
  • Definition of semantic layers, KPIs, and reusable data foundations
  • Development of dashboards and alerting systems that drive operational decisions
  • Translation of ambiguous risk scenarios into structured technical systems
  • Technical mentorship of junior engineers while maintaining hands-on ownership
  • Secure, resilient, production-grade architecture capable of scaling across sectors

What We’re Looking For:

  • 10+ years building production-grade data systems or telemetry-driven platforms
  • Proven AWS architecture depth (S3, IAM, Lambda, Redshift, Glue, Athena, EMR, etc.)
  • Experience in distributed systems, observability platforms, monitoring environments, or operational analytics
  • Ownership of systems relied upon by both engineering teams and executive stakeholders
  • Visualization-tool agnostic mindset focused on signal clarity and actionability
  • Executive presence and ability to communicate architectural tradeoffs clearly
  • Comfort operating inside a small, engineering-dense growth environment
  • Builder mentality with a bias toward ownership and impact
  • Cloud Requirement: Deep, production-level AWS architecture experience is required.

Interview Process (3–4 Weeks | 4 Steps):

  • Step 1: Initial alignment conversation
  • Step 2: Deep technical architecture discussion with engineering leadership
  • Step 3: Structured technical exercise—followed by a 45-minute architecture presentation and artifact submission demonstrating end-to-end ownership and scalable AWS design
  • Step 4: Final executive-level discussion focused on leadership philosophy, mentorship approach, and long-term impact with a handshake, meet and greet.

Compensation: Base salary up to $235,000 depending on experience and alignment, including offering a comprehensive and competitive benefits package. Additional variable compensation potential may apply.

Location: Denver metro area – hybrid collaboration required

Citizenship & Clearance: Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Secret clearance
