Software Engineering Manager / (100% Hands Off)

Compensation:$120,000 – $140,000 (base, non-negotiable)
A well-funded, private-equity–backed technology company is hiring a Software Engineering Manager to lead a distributed team that is rebuilding and expanding a mission-critical financial platform used by community-focused institutions across the country. This is a fully remote, hands-on leadership role where architectural vision, coaching ability, and delivery discipline all matter.
Northern Indiana talent welcome. Candidates in South Bend, Elkhart, and nearby areas are encouraged to apply for the occasional on-site collaboration (purely optional).

Responsibilities:
Lead & develop people
- Hire, mentor, and retain a geographically distributed team of software engineers.
- Set crisp expectations, give actionable feedback, and create clear career paths.
Own the technical strategy
- Guide architecture for scalability, reliability, security, and long-term maintainability.
- Champion modern engineering practices, test automation, DevOps, and tech-debt reduction.
- Drive post-incident reviews focused on accountability and learning.
Deliver real outcomes
- Run Agile ceremonies that actually work—sprint planning, retros, backlog triage.
- Keep roadmaps aligned with product and business priorities; remove blockers early.
- Oversee third-party integrations, sandbox environments, and release readiness.

- Backend/Database: C#/Progress OpenEdge (Yes Progress, not Postgres LOL)
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on software engineering, with 3+ years leading teams.
- Proven success guiding architecture and delivery in an Agile, cloud-minded environment.
- Strong communicator able to translate between engineers, product, and executives.
- Bonus points for past work in regulated domains (fintech, healthtech, SaaS) or platform modernization.
