As part of this expansion, we are seeking an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) Trustee to provide fiduciary oversight and ensure the effective governance, compliance, and performance of the firm’s employee ownership plan. This is a high-impact role with direct responsibility for protecting employee-owners’ interests and guiding one of the firm’s most important benefits programs.


What You'll Do:

  • Serve as fiduciary for ESOP participants, upholding ERISA requirements and safeguarding employee-owners’ interests
  • Ensure decisions are free of conflicts of interest and consistently aligned with long-term employee benefit
  • Oversee day-to-day ESOP operations, including timely and accurate distribution of shares and contributions
  • Manage relationships with third-party administrators, appraisers, and legal advisors
  • Review and approve annual independent valuations to ensure fairness and accuracy
  • Maintain compliance with all IRS, DOL, and ERISA regulations, ensuring tax-qualified status and adherence to federal and state law
  • Oversee completion of all required filings, disclosures, and participant communications
  • Clearly explain complex ESOP concepts to employees, management, and stakeholders
  • Approve ESOP transactions (purchases, sales, or amendments) in line with fiduciary duties
  • Conduct periodic reviews of plan performance, allocation methodology, and overall effectiveness
  • Provide training and education for leadership and employees regarding ESOP structure, benefits, and responsibilities
  • Stay current on evolving regulations and industry best practices


Preferred Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field required
  • Advanced designation preferred (CPA, JD, or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in employee benefits administration, fiduciary services, or ESOP governance
  • Deep knowledge of ERISA, ESOP structures, and compliance obligations
  • Strong boardroom presence with excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to interpret complex financial and legal issues, make sound decisions, and resolve conflicts effectively
  • Strong organizational skills and detail orientation; able to manage multiple stakeholders and service providers
  • Certifications such as PMP, CSM, or PRINCE2 considered a plus
