The company has built a recognized presence in its market and operates a complex business that brings together customer experience, global operations, technology, and multiple revenue streams.

The organization is entering an important period of modernization and investing in the infrastructure behind its next stage of growth. Finance is a major part of that investment.

A key near-term priority is the transition from Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) to NetSuite, but this opportunity is much broader than an ERP implementation. The company is rethinking how its financial systems, processes, controls, data, and automation can better support a sophisticated and evolving business.

The Director of Financial Systems will report directly to the Controller and work across Accounting, Finance, Technology, and external partners with meaningful visibility and ownership.

This is first and foremost a Finance role with significant systems responsibility. The right person brings a strong Accounting and Finance foundation, understands the processes behind the technology, and is technically savvy enough to drive how those processes are supported and improved through financial systems.

What You'll Own

• Serve as a key Finance partner to the Controller, with functional ownership across the financial systems environment.
• Play a significant role in the ERP transition, bringing the Accounting and Finance perspective to requirements, process design, data migration, testing, controls, implementation, and adoption.
• Translate Accounting and Finance requirements into practical system configurations, workflows, reporting, and process improvements.
• Improve core Finance processes across financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, and other critical Accounting workflows.
• Identify opportunities to reduce manual work and improve Finance processes through better use of systems, data, and automation.
• Partner with Technology and external system partners while maintaining strong Finance ownership of requirements and outcomes.
• Strengthen financial systems governance, data integrity, documentation, and control frameworks.
• Ensure financial systems and related processes appropriately support ITGCs, access controls, change management, auditability, and compliance requirements.
• Support integrations, data mapping, testing, migration, and reporting across the broader Finance technology environment.
• Help establish stronger standards, ownership, and structure around how Finance systems are managed as the environment continues to evolve.

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of progressive experience spanning Accounting, Finance, Finance Systems, Finance Technology, or closely related roles.
• A strong Accounting and Finance background is critical. You should understand the underlying Finance processes, not simply the technology supporting them.
• Meaningful experience inside an operating company, with direct ownership of financial systems and processes beyond implementation alone.
• Strong functional Finance Systems experience with the technical aptitude to work effectively across ERP platforms, integrations, data, reporting, and automation.
• Experience leading or playing a significant role in ERP implementations, migrations, upgrades, or modernization initiatives.
• Experience with NetSuite or a comparable modern ERP environment is strongly preferred. Experience working with established or legacy ERP environments is also valuable.
• Strong understanding of core Finance processes, including Record-to-Report, Procure-to-Pay, financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, and master data.
• Practical experience with ITGCs and financial systems controls, including user access, system changes, documentation, data integrity, and audit support.
• Experience translating Finance requirements into system and process solutions and working effectively with technical teams and implementation partners.
• Demonstrated ability to improve Finance processes through systems, workflow redesign, data, and automation.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to operate effectively with senior Finance leadership while remaining close to the details.

The Profile That Will Stand Out

The strongest candidates will have built their careers at the intersection of Accounting, Finance, and technology, with their understanding of Finance anchoring the profile.

You may have started in Accounting or Finance and moved deeper into systems, or developed within Finance Technology while remaining closely connected to Accounting and Finance operations. Either way, you should understand the financial processes behind the technology and have personally helped implement, improve, and operate the systems that support them.

This is not intended for someone whose background is primarily technical systems administration or someone coming directly from consulting or advisory without meaningful industry-side Finance ownership.

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)

Compensation: $180,000–$200,000
